Enola was talking to her owl, Hedwig, about her visions. She slowly shifted into talking about an arching competition Julia wasn't letting her be apart of. Silly of her to think the owl would know what she meant. Yet, in the owl's eyes, Enola seemed to think she could see an understanding. She knew she had a special connection with that owl. Her mother had given him to her for her tenth birthday, right before she left. Enola heard her door slowly open as Julia walked in. Enola stood straight up and smiled. It was time for their daily reading. Julia picked up a book as she stared into Enola's light grey eyes.

-"Enola, will you please stop talking to that owl of yours, he can't hear you. If you need someone to talk to about your mother, you know I'm here."Said Julia. Julia often came out as mean to people, but really she had had a horrible past, to say the least. Her mother had gotten killed by a gang of policemen (racism they said), when she was only five years old. Although she was only five when it happened, she had memories of her mother implanted in her brain. Her father left her, saying that her daughter wouldn't acheive anything. That's when Helena had found her. She had brought her to her parent's home and Julia could work there in exchange of a home.

-"Julia, I wasn't talking about Mother. I was talking to him about the upcoming challenge. You know, the arching competition? I want to compete. Mother has trained me to use an archer and hunt. I will say that I am hoping to win the competition."

-"I shall say that no lady will win. These men have had experience and they are much older than you are Enola. Even though you have trained with Helena, these men have been preparing for this competition for years." Julia had a point, most of the men competing were in their twenties and Enola was only thirteen. Enola had only just heard of the competition, and she was determined to win it, however the competitors had heard of it years earlier. Which meant, if Enola participated, she would have an unfair disanvantage.

-"Still, Mother tought me great arching skills, and she for sure would have wanted me to participate. Mother was a well made feminist and she would never had said that I couldn't win this competition"

-"Well, as it turns out, I am not your mother. And even though that prize would bring me great money to renovate the manor, you cannot compete. I fear you getting hurt. If you did get hurt, then, I would have to pay great money to get you healed. Now, let's start reading shall we?"

-"Of course Julia" said Enola, a bit sad that she didn't get anything out of this conversation. However, Enola was determined to be a part of the competition. She knew she would try again.

Julia started reading, and soon enough, Enola had fallen asleep in her arms. Julia lightly started running her fingers through Enola's hair, as she fell asleep herself. In the middle of the night, Enola woke up sweating. She looked around her room and decided to go downstairs for a glass of water. That's when she saw her. Her mother was staring back at her, as she was vanishing into thin air. Enola ran upstairs, and told Julia what she had just seen. As Julia was going downstairs to see for herself, she only found a book intitled "Reality Shifting, the Why and How". She brought the book back to Enola's room and presented it to her. The book had a brown cover and the edges of the pages and covers looked burnt. The cover had gold letters and it looked quite used.
