PROLOGUE
A soul is never forgotten is what we were told. But it seems as I have been forgotten. Only those who lived a life can reincarnate, but once a soul does not make it, there is no need to return. I am a soul. I know, it sounds weird. It sounds crazy. It sounds honestly stupid, but my body was forgotten in the reality called earth. I could not make it to earth so I will never know how my life would have went. I will never know my family, friends and so on. So us? Us souls that did not make it outside the womb? We live here. A reality called Obliviunovus. Most of us just call it Novus for short. The ones who have not experienced living here say it is amazing, ever-lasting valleys of clouds and light with no need to learn or educate, stress or worry, no need for anything but laughing and waiting. For what, I do not know. Everyone here is 12 years old. That is how we come. That is how we stay. We take the form as if we made it out alive in the human world. I am quite fascinated in that place. We hear a lot about it. About how us souls signed a contract before each life to forget the last and we were all called a "miscarriage" and that is why we have come here. We will live in this light for eternity. I always wonder why cant we die? Why cant we live? Are we allowed to experience love? Are we allowed to develop hobbies? This is where my story starts. My name? Fantasia, but that is pretty much as far as I am allowed to know about myself.

I wake up early in the morning. I do not like to talk to people my age. Of course, it is the only age of every one except the advisors so I do not like to talk to anyone. The advisors are angles. They live in another reality but look after us. Some work in this reality, others do not. That is why I get up early in the morning. Us souls have nothing to do. No where to go. The only interesting place is the newcomers portal. That is where I go. I know the schedule of the advisors. I come to the newcomers portal every day so I know pretty much everyone. This morning, I sat on the puffiest cloud, asking the advisor my normal daily amount of questions as they piled into my mind. The advisors stood next to the newcomers portal where new souls arrive to Novus. They hand out packets of all knowledge needed here. The packets are the only form of object that is on this plane. Everything else is pure light and fluffy clouds, lands of infinite fields and sun to make this miserable place seem heavenly. The advisors never looked at me or talked or answered my questions. The most I got to an answer was from a short blonde advisor named V. We are not allowed to know their full names so the best we know is the first letter of their first name. The answer I got from V was nothing but my name and a sigh. My name is Fantasia. Fanta for short. I have long, wavy hair that is the color of chestnuts. My eyes are as green as the grass. I heard on earth, the grass is so soft and beautiful it intrigues bugs to want to eat it. Insect souls fly around here but never bite the lime-green grass that stays one, short length. I wish I could eat. Here comes another question.

"Why don't we need food to survive, like humans?" I said in my normally curious voice that echoed through my ears. Everything echoes here. I don't know why. There is another question.

"Why does everything echo?" Of course, again just as I expected, no response.

After a while of silence a small girl with big, blue, curious eyes came from the portal dancing around in a bouncy dress. She was holding a rose and stopped spinning for a second to look around in amazement at the light and beauty as her shoulder-length, blonde hair settled to her shoulders. She had a round face with chubby cheeks and a button nose. She grabbed the newcomer packet and took a look at me. I did not smile. I just stared. She made me feel like I should be fancier. But of course, we do not get to choose our outfits. We come as we do and never change. I came in an over-sized black hoodie and gray sweatpants.

Once she looked at me, we stared at each other for what felt like forever before I got the huge urge to be great friends. Many people here have friends and get into drama. I do not have anybody but me and my questions. That is okay with me. My mind keeps me from being lonely. But this girl? I looked at her and my eyes finally got a sense of light and celestial. Was I finally whole with a puzzle piece I didn't even know was missing? I realized I was staring and looked down at the fluttering cloud I was sitting on with my cheeks burning red. Since we are not human, we do not have feet. Our body just fades into the clouds under us and we hover like ghosts. I looked up because I got impatient. I could not take my eyes off her any longer.

"Hi," I finally uttered. She seemed to have not heard me as she just stared at me, questioningly, so I decided to speak more.

"My name is Fantasia. What is yours?" She still stared with her sky colored eyes.

When I finally got the hint she was not interested in talking to me, I settled down letting some tension flow from my shoulders and just watched myself fiddle with my fingers. But right as I did that, I heard V's voice say "Evelyn."

I looked up and smiled as V looked away."That is such a pretty name! Welcome, Evelyn!"

After that B, one of the advisors scheduled at the moment, motioned Evelyn off with no words and she went straight to prancing and pouncing on clouds. Her and I were both smiling now. Evelyn's smile seemed shy and small but lit up this darkness disguised as heaven. She seemed to bring genuine light to this world. But this world is infinite and her light only lasts in her presence.

I thought that would be the last time I saw her.
