Elena Gilbert was scared. Scratch that, she was terrified. She was terrified of dying, she was terrified about the pain and the aftermath. Sure by now she knew about the existence of The Other Side, but she didn't know whether she,a human Doppelganger , would be welcome there.
She didn't trust the Resurrection potion given by Elijah, how could she? Did that have a guarantee for 500 years? And then there was Bonnie, she may be a witch but still every witch has their limits and by watching so many movies Elena knew Ressurection always came with a price.
Surely there was an Option C, but she would return as a vampire and she did not want to be a vampire ever.
So sitting by the window still, Elena Gilbert accepted her fate. There was 80 percent chance that she would not return back to her home and with a sad smile, she was perfectly content with it.
Her life wasn't supposed to be like this. She was supposed to marry, travel all around the world , be a doctor, have kids and grow old. Everything normal.
Stefan suggested her that she should spend her remaining time with him,but she didn't want to be anywhere near anyone except her twin.
Her Ally-Star.
Alcyone Gilbert was her safe place. Ever since she could remember, Ally was her rock. Everytime she cried, she was there for her. Her big sister, who she loved more than anything.
Elena Gilbert was selfish and she knew that, many would think that if it was a choice between saving Ally and Jeremy, she would choose both. Oh but how wrong they were.
Elena Gilbert loved Ally Gilbert with her heart enough to sacrifice herself for her. She could've told Klaus about Ally but she didn't. Why? Because the day Ally left for New York, She vowed to protect her like Ally did, when they were a kid.
Many would think that The Salvatores knew about her , but no, they didn't. She made both Bonnie and Caroline promise that they should never involve Ally in the supernatural and never mention her in the presence of the Salvatores and both the Bennett witch and newly-turned Vampire agreed with her.
She then thought about Jenna, their aunt, legal guardian who was taken by Klaus. Jenna was a sweetheart and she didn't deserve any of this. None of them did to be honest but fate wasn't by their side.
She then thought back to her conversation with Jeremy.
Elena made Jeremy sit on the side of her bed , while she sat at the chair across him.
"Jeremy," she started , " I don't know the chances of my survival tonight,but I need you to promise me something. "
Jeremy looked up, his eyes were swollen and filled with tears," You know 'Lena , whenever I tend to love someone they end up dead, first Mom and Dad, then Anna , then Jenna and now you! Who's next ? Ally?" He exclaimed in the most broken voice she ever heard.
" Jer everything will be alright one day, where no one would have to die, but today is not that day but I want you to- " Elena was cut off my Jeremy's shouting.
"WHAT?! YOU WANT ME TO WHAT? MOVE ON? TELL ME ELENA!"
Elena had tears in her own eyes but she didn't let them fall, she wrapped both her arms around Jeremy and continued ," No, Jeremy I want you to go and stay with Ally in New York,go to the New York Arts academy like Ally did , marry and have a good life, this is my last dying wish and I want you to fulfil it."
"Elena I can't, please ."
"You have to Jer, now go over Bonnie's and spend the day with her while I say goodbye to Ally" she softly smiled at him and placed a kiss on his forehead.
"I love you remember that Jeremy."
"I do too 'Lena " and with a final hug he exited the room.
Elena took a breath to compose her and started writing a letter to her twin.
With tears in her eyes, Elena Gilbert closed the letter as a lone tear escaped her eyes.
She did not have the courage to call her, hear her melodious voice for the last time , so she put the letter in a fancy envelope and addressed it as Alcyone Gilbert.
