As the day went on, Kennedy found herself outside, crouching near a small field of flowers. As she picked one up, she can't help but smell the sweet aroma coming off from the plant. As the scent went into her nostrils, it triggered a memory she had with Jason.
It was a sunny yet cloudy day at the lake. Kennedy kicked her legs up and down as she sat on a bench that resided in front of the cabin they lived in. Not long after, Jason came walking in, machete in his right hand as the other was holding something tiny within his palm. Kennedy's face lit up automatically as she waved at him, waiting patiently as he sauntered towards her.
As he was in front of her, Jason gently covered her eyes with his gloved hand and lifted her right hand up and opened her small palm. The girl hummed in content as something was placed into her hand. Jason then let go, revealing small flowers that can't possibly be weaved into a crown. Though that its true, the petite girl smiled.
"No worries, we can make rings out of these!"
Jason nodded enthusiastically, putting his index finger up in front of Kennedy in way to show her to wait. He then took something out from his pocket. A carved, wooden box was in his hand as he got down in one knee.
Kennedy gasped, "Jason! T-this is too soon!", she stuttered as she gripped the ends of her strawberry dress she had on. Even with that reaction, Jason was insistent, making Kennedy carefully think about her next words.
"Maybe this can be a promise ring." Kennedy spoke as Jason tilted his head in confusion.
Kennedy chuckled softly as she helped Jason get up, "Let me tell you the difference between dating and marriage".
The rest was history.
A cold hand touched Kennedy's shoulder as she jolted up in fear. She turned around to find the familiar, white sack covered face of the nurse, who she presumed as Sally from the picture.
"Oh. Hi Sally....", her voice void of emotion.
"Are you okay?", Sally asked, making Kennedy once again jolt up in surprise.
You can talk? Like fully?
Kennedy thought as she wiped that way of thinking away, focusing on the uniformed woman beside her. "Yeah!", Kennedy exclaimed, hoping to deter Sally from asking why she was moping. Sally looked at her, as if to say something but she simply didn't say what she had in mind.
"Beautiful aren't they?"
Sally said, catching Kennedy off guard as the nurse took the flower from her hand. Kennedy nodded as the woman twirled it in between her thumb and index finger.
"Why don't we take some inside and talk about what we know and what's gonna happen from now on?", Sally suggested.
"Of course, let's go", Kennedy said as she got up and patted the dirt off her overalls. Sally following in suit as she picked up a handful of flowers in one scoop and transported away. Kennedy was left alone once again, looking at the withered flowers underneath the new ones one last time before she walked back.
"WHAT?!"
Quentin shouted as Camille covered her ears at the sudden outburst. "Yeah, and that was the summary on how and what I did before I got here". Quentin exhaled loudly from his mouth, combing through his brunette, wavy hair with his calloused hand as he tried to retain all that information. Truth be told, Camille really didn't want others to know about this and him but the info will both benefit them, considering the fact that she knows the routine first hand. Plus, Quentin deserves to know.
