Lena's POV
My heels clicked noisily on the tiled floor as I walked down to my office, stifling a yawn. I liked to get here early before everyone although I had a feeling that (Y/N) would be here early. I chuckled when I thought of her antics from yesterday and thought that maybe I should apologize to her for nearly taking her head off yesterday with the shrapnel. Then again, she seemed hardly fazed by it. Holding my pastry breakfast under my arm I opened my door only to shriek in surprise when I saw Jess and (Y/N) playing what looked like Go Fish on my desk. I noted that it was currently five am. Jess quickly rushed out of the room back to her desk, but (Y/N) just chuckled darkly and grabbed the ginormous pile of candy that filled nearly of my desk and shoved it into her purse. She looked up for the first time and smiled before rushing over to engulf me in a giant hug that made me shriek in surprise again.
I jumped yet again when Supergirl landed on my balcony. Composing myself and putting on a mask of complete composure I let her in. She eyed (Y/N) cautiously and to my surprise, (Y/N) glared at her with a glare that would make even my mother shiver. I could almost feel the temperature of the room dropping. Supergirl was clearly uncomfortable and looked almost nervous.
"Hello, Supergirl," (Y/N) said, her voice laced with venom and I knew that my brother would be proud. She could marvel any Luthor.
"Umm I'm sorry, do I know you," she asked, her voice more curious that rude. (Y/N) sighed and in an instant, her face was a perfect mask of calm and cheerful. To say that I was disturbed would be an understatement. Even I couldn't wear a mask like that.
"No, I wouldn't think so, well nice seeing you," she said and with that, she slammed the door in her face. Supergirl's eyes widened and she looked hurt before flying off when I heard sirens in the distance.
I turned back to (Y/N) with a curious expression, but she just smiled and it was like nothing had even happened. That day was one of the most productive of my entire career and I didn't even work overtime! (Y/N) worked efficiently and quickly, spouting theories that went over even my head. Rhea seemed interested in her and I admit that I was a tad envious, but I shoved that feeling into yet another box. I was quite impressed with her work and she hadn't even mentioned my last name once.
Throughout the day I found myself telling her about my life and career. I spilled to her about my mother and my friends as well as my brother. At his mention (Y/N) tensed up, but tried to brush it off by changing the subject and I was instantly suspicious. I had been betrayed so so much in my past that I wondered if she would just be being my friend to get revenge on my brother, maybe this was all one elaborate plot. But when (Y/N) laughed so hard that water came out of her nose and when she accidentally made more than a few workers inhale helium, I knew that I could trust her.
Your POV
The helium was an accident I swear! I was currently running around frantically trying to put out a fire when I had another theory idea. I left the others to clean up the fire, ignoring the fact that there was no hose down here and I hadn't exactly told anyone about the fire. Oh well, I quickly jotted down my ideas and made a rough graph and blueprint. By this time the fire had spread and I hadn't noticed when my fellow co-workers and Lena came downstairs to find me surrounded in a circle laughing so hard that water was spilling out of my nose as I thought of the time that I had used uninsulated wires on a project eleven years ago. I was still traumatized by that. My notebook was safely in my pocket when who but Supergirl arrived to save the day. I rolled my eyes inwardly.
By now my side had been burned and my favorite shirt was burned. That was the real crime here. I was put safely down away from the fire and it was put out quickly. Supergirl turned back to me with her hands on her hips and I wide grin that faded when she saw my face.
"I had it under control," I said, wincing when I saw the burned skin on my said and getting dizzy as blood poured from the wound. She ignored me and reached out to help me. It all came back to me in flashes. The glowing red veins, the screams of my parents and I as we were strapped to the table, the laughter of Lex and Lillian, the rage of Supergirl, her insane smile when she slaughtered them both, and her eyes glowing red. I pushed her away, hard, catching her by surprise and she stumbled back.
"Get away from me," I screamed at her. By now Lena had come back and looked at me with shock and fear in her eyes. Supergirl looked hurt and confused.
"(Y/N) what's wrong," Lena asked me and I took a deep breath. I knew that if I told her she would only blame herself. I had only known her for two days after all. So I smiled at her and apologized to Supergirl with gritted teeth. She looked annoyed, but I couldn't care less. I was brought back to reality by the searing pain in my side. I winced a little and without saying anything to either of them, I grabbed a bottle of alcohol vinegar from my purse. I hadn't used it in a long long time, but it had always been there and they both gaped at me when I poured it directly onto my wound. I gritted my teeth, letting the pain wash over me, it helped my focus. With a sigh, I turned back to Supergirl.
"Did you need something," I said, aware of how cold my voice sounded. She flinched before nodding at Lena and rushing off, probably to kill another person's parents. I shook the thought from my head and turned to Lena who was still gaping at the wound on my side.
"Lena, if I may, I would very much like to get back to work, I think Hugh misses me." Lena scoffed at me.
"(Y/N) surely you can't be serious," she exclaimed, gesturing to my wound.
"I am, and don't call me Shirley," I replied, quoting "Airplane". She just ignored me (rude) and practically dragged me to her office where I wrapped my wound as though I had done this a thousand times. I had.
"There, I'm done, can I leave now," I asked. She was about to respond when someone knocked on the door. Lena's face brightened when she opened the door to reveal a blonde woman. She wore a bright yellow dress and smiled brightly. I automatically liked her.
"(Y/N) this is Kara Danvers, a reporter for CATCO," Lena explained and I shook her hand.
"Did you know that apples float, but pears sink," I asked her and she tilted her head; Lena failed to hold back a chuckle.
Kara's POV
After the incident at the lab, I was shaken up. The girl had looked familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. Oh well (I swear, everyone in this fanfic is ignoring their issues geez), I would see Lena soon and she would probably clear my head anyway, she had the effect (oh she does, does she haha). Walking into her office I nearly did a double-take when I saw the saw girl from the lab sitting in Lena's office. I hadn't noticed the degree of her wound downstairs, but now I gaped at the fact that she wasn't sobbing.
I smiled at her and was surprised when she smiled back. I tried to hide my blush, as her smile lit up the room. In this light, her hair glimmered and her eyes shone. I shook these thoughts from my head when she spoke.
"Did you know that apples float, but pears sink," she said and I tilted my head to the side. Lena laughed and I just then remembered that she was there.
We talked for what felt like hours and I laughed so hard that my wine almost came out of my nose. I couldn't wait to tell Alex about (Y/N). Her laugh was contagious and I could sense that Lena's wall was tumbling down in her presence.
I chuckled, adjusting my glasses, knowing that I had made another friend today. I was about to respond when Lena's television turned on to reveal yet another Supergirl newscast. Lena smiled slightly and (Y/N) tried her best to look happy about seeing Supergirl saving a little girl's parents.
"So...that Supergirl is really something," I said awkwardly, sitting and opening the package of potstickers that I had brought, laughing when (Y/N)'s face lit up adorably.
"I guess," (Y/N) said lamely and I frowned.
Lena looked at her with narrow eyes and could hear the gears of her brain turning.
Your POV
"Why do you hate Supergirl, " she said bluntly, holding a wine glass that looked much too large. I gulped.
"N-no reason," I tried, but lying had never been my strong suit. They both looked at me as if to say "really" and I sighed.
"Ok I'll tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone. Promise," I exclaimed frantically and they both hurriedly promised. With a sigh, I began
