Hogwarts students celebrated the arrival of their new members by talking and laughing loudly with each other. Lyra was still a little disoriented, but when she saw her housemates making jokes at the table and asking her questions about her muggle life, she relaxed considerably.

"So you're telling me you just grab the... air? And suddenly, the internet appears? I don't trust that crap." One of the red headed twins complained with confusion.

"Well, I don't understand it either." Lyra said laughing. "But it just works like that, I guess."

"Fred, Dad has explained to us a thousand times how it works." George, the other twin, corrected him while looking for an empty space on his already full plate to put some mashed potatoes.

"Well, muggles shouldn't complain. If that shit isn't magic, I don't know what is." Fred determined.

"I'm sorry for that, my brothers can be a little too... intense." A little redhead smiled at me with an awkward smile. "I'm Ron, by the way." He said holding out his hand. Lyra shook it and introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you, Ron. I'm Lyra." She replied with a genuine smile.

"... and this is Harry, Harry Potter. The one and only." The curious boy with glasses next to him smiled slightly.

"And I'm Hermione Granger." A girl with messy hair interrupted and introduced herself, which caused Ron to roll his eyes with annoyance.

"Pleasure." Lyra replied. She liked this girl, she seemed bold.

After the chit chat, Lyra concentrated on the huge variety of food in front of her, trying to decide what to choose. Her thoughts were interrupted by the same sensation in her stomach, she felt observed and when she looked to the front of her table, she found herself hypnotized by the most intense pair of gray eyes she had ever seen, looking at her fiercely.

She couldn't move. As their gaze connected, the world around them ceased to exist. The butterflies came back with such force that made them feel sick, as if their souls were fighting to leave their bodies and join each other.

It was an inexplicable connection...

He looked away first, breaking their trance. He was very confused at what was happening, was he dreaming again? He'll have to find a way to talk to her and know if she felt the same way he did. But, what if she didn't... what if he was the only one making it all up in his head?

He wouldn't let that happen. After all, he was Draco Malfoy, he was in no position to be begging for the attention of a girl... But she is not an ordinary girl... He made a pact with himself: if she didn't show interest, he would forget and ignore her. Even if it meant missing the only opportunity to get to know her and understand his obsession with her.

The next day, Lyra was walking with Ron and Harry to their first flying lesson. She didn't know Gryffindor shared the class with Slytherin until she spotted the emerald cloaks spread out in the field.

She almost choked on her own saliva and began to feel very nervous about seeing the blond boy who took her breath away.

Ron glared at them. "Ugh, I hate Slytherins. Specially Malfoy, why do we have to be flying together?"

Before she could ask him why she hated him, Hermione ran to the trio and hugged Lyra with joy.

"Great. This day couldn't go worse." Ron whispered so softly that only Lyra could hear. She gave him a scolded look as she walked locking arms with Hermione. They were laughing when suddenly everything became blurry to Lyra.

There he was, Draco.

Malfoy was with his friends, mocking how absurd their Gryffindor classmates looked on their brooms, trying to decode them as if they have never seen one. His chuckle stopped when he saw the curly-haired girl looking directly at him.

It was now or never.

He started walking towards her with superiority, even though he was dying of fear on the inside. When he reached her he looked over to her company with disdain.

"Hey, my name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." He blurted, looking directly into her eyes. Those he knew by heart from all the times he had studied them in his dreams.

"H..he..hey." Lyra stuttered, feeling the most stupid person in the planet. Why had she stuttered? She composed herself with a slight cough and repeated with more strength: "I'm Lyra, Lyra Bauer." She spoke, shaking his hand with hers.

They immediately felt a tiny spark between their intertwined fingers. She couldn't breath properly, was he feeling the same thing?

She removed her hand and said kindly to him. "This are my friends. Ron, Harry and Hermione."

"Yeah, we've met before." Harry snapped. Making her shift uncomfortable. Draco glared at him and before he could answer, his friends were already at his side.

"Ow, what do we have here? A bunch of Gryffindors wasting everybody's air." A hard-faced Slytherin girl said looking up and down on them. Two fatties behind her started laughing at her comment and Draco only showed a mischievous grin.

Lyra scowled at the girl and replied: "What did you just say?"

"What you heard, princess. You Gryffindors are a waste of everybody's time."

Lyra smirked. "You're brilliant. How long did it take you to come up with that one?" She mocked.

Ron and Harry snorted while Hermione smiled triumphant. The Slytherin girl's face fell as she took a step forward, ready to confront her.

Before she could get close to her, Harry grabbed Lyra's upper arm and pulled her to his side. "Let's go Lyra, they are not worth it."

"Yeah, I guess you're right." She sighed, looking at Draco disappointed. She started walking away from his group when a cold hand stopped her, sending shivers down her spine.

"Wait." Draco urged. "Come with us."

She was surprised by his sudden insinuation. She overheard a "What? Are you fricking kidding me?" Coming from the very annoying girl's mouth.

"We are much more fun than... those." He added, never leaving behind his condescending tone.

"Yeah, sure. I always wanted to belong to a group of annoying bullies... yay." She snapped with a serious face. Her voice was full of sarcasm and boredom.

Draco stared at her with a cheeky smirk and with a flirting tone in his voice he said: "I see, suit yourself. Go back to the losers."

She nodded. "You should also return to your pug-like face girlfriend before she murders someone. Careful with her. Azkaban's looking for new recruits."
