Uninvited

A year ago, I was sitting in an old Dairy Queen beside a boy. We were joking over a Starbucks cup that said "Merry Ho Ho" on it. I thought this boy would be the one. I thought that when we smiled and laughed we were each other's next secret. That we would unlock a world together. Turns out, I was a stranger to him. Or maybe he was a stranger to me. He left quicker than summer and his Instagram shows that he is with other girls that are prettier, funnier, and more magical than me.

This new boy hasn't left yet. He is still close enough to know. But when he showed me his phone contacts. There were girls contacts lined up in rows.

The other day he asked me for money so he can fly away. I told him I was busy and couldn't make the flight. He said I was not invited anyway. He only needed the money, not my company. Crimson was the colour of my cheeks.

Shame stained me. It's not the first time I have been stained and scarred.
