After waking up the first time, it happened again. We would fall into a "sleep" then wake up, without memory of what happened the previous night. I would scare us but when we asked Tom he said it was a nightmare so we shrugged it off. Ginny and I had decided to get rid of it so our fears would be gone. She was in the bathroom at the moment getting rid of it. I was walking down the hallway in hopes of not drawing any attention to my sickly figure.
"Well well, if it isn't the Mudblood's Mudblood friend?" a sneering voice said. I looked up at Malfoy.
"What do you want Malfoy?"
"I just want you to know that you are next."
"What do you mean?"
"Last time a Mudblood died. I hope it's you or Ganger." I looked up in utter shock.
"I-"
"Leave her alone Malfoy." I stern voice said from behind me. I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Or what? You are a Mudblood too." Draco snapped.
"Say that again I dare you." The stern voice threatened. She must of pulled out her wand because Draco and his goonies fled in terror. I got the courage to look at my savior. She had long dark hair and nearly black eyes. She has baby blue glasses and was all and all beautiful.
"Thanks," I say. I look at Ginny who was right next to the mystery girl.
"Oh right, my name is Maddy." She said extending her hand. I shake it. I heard Ron gush about her during the summer and Ginny complaining about it.
"My name is (Y/N). What year are you in?" I gestured to her Gryffindor robes.
"I am in second year. With Ron?"
"Oh, nice." I lean to Ginny, "So she's the one Ron won't shut up about." I say just loud enough for her to hear. I look up at her to see her blushing profusely.
"Oh someone has a crush on my brother...." Ginny smirked.
"Ok fine. But don't tell anyone alright? Plus," she smirked. "You owe me one."
"Ok ok. I owe you" I giggled. "Thanks again! Oh," I noticed Ron looking around, probably for Maddy, "I think Ron is looking for you." I pointed at Ron. He finally saw me and Ginny waving at him and made his way over.
"Hey Madds, hello you two." He smiled warmly at us. "I see you met (Y/n)." He turned to Maddy.
"Yeah. Malfoy was being mean to her."
"Well next time I'll help. Bye!" He waved to us and walked off with Maddy. Ginny and I looked at each other and burst out laughing.
---Dinner---
Ginny
I was talking to (Y/n) when we walked past Harry, Ron, Maddy, and Hermione. They were whispering about something.
"You got rid of Tom right?" (Y/n) whispered to me. I just nodded. Then I saw it, in Harry's hands I saw the little black diary. Crap. I thought. For the rest of the night, I made a plan to get it back. If (Y/n) finds out she would kill me.
Maddy
I looked up and saw Ginny and (Y/n) walk by. I was about to wave when Ginny's face went pale. She just grabbed (Y/n) and ran off.
"Tom Marvolo Riddle?" Hermione said.
"Hey did you-" I started but was cut off by Harry.
"It looks like a diary." He stated.
"It looks old." Ron blurted. I giggled at his comment.
"Maybe it was written 50 years ago!" Hermione exclaimed.
"One problem," Harry started, "It's blank." He paged through the book, proving his point.
---A couple of days later---
"Harry! I don't know who did it but come quick!" Neville came charging towards us. We ran up to the boy's dorm to find it in ruins.
"It had to be someone from Gryffindor, nobody else knows the password," I commented.
"Did they take anything?" Hermione asked.
"Yes. Tom Riddle's Diary is missing."
---A couple more days later---
(Y/n)
I told Ginny I had to run down to the library before the Quidditch game. Maddy told me to meet her down there later so we could go together. When I got there I saw Hermione frantically flipping through pages of her book. I ran up to her.
"What's going on Hermione?" I asked. Maddy must have just got here too because she ran up right next to me.
"I figured out what is petrifying people. It's a big snake called-" Hermione started.
"A basilisk!" Maddy finished. "But it would have to go through the..." She trailed off.
"The pipes!" I exclaimed. The older girls seemed shocked that I knew that.
"Ok people were petrified because they simply saw a reflection of the snake. So... how will we avoid it?"
"I have a mirror." I thought out loud. "We can use it to see around corners!"
"Good idea! Let's go warn the boys!" I handed Hermione the mirror and we started to leave the library. She stuck the mirror out to look around the corner, the last thing I saw was a pair of big yellow eyes.
------
Ginny
I woke up in my room and realized I did something terrible again. I imminently ran down to the Quidditch pitch. I got there just in time to hear McGonagall announce that it was canceled. She turned to Harry.
"Now if you will help me find Mr. and Miss. Weasley,"
"I am right here!" I ran up to them. We went off to find Ron, which wasn't long, and made our way down to the Hospital Wing.
"Now, you may find this a wee bit of a shock." she pushed open the doors to reveal three new beds.
"Maddy!"
"(Y/n)!"
"Hermione!"
