<<Samantha>>

I walked into the rec room and all previous conversation stopped abruptly. Looking around, They're all flocked together, ready to scatter at the slightest movement.
"Hello," I say getting right to it. "If you are here for the medical internship, you will be going last. If your here for the editorial internship, you'll go second. Finally, if you are here for the engineering internship, follow me." I say all of this while walking across the room, headed for the doors to the ping pong room. I turn around once I get to the doors to find no one has moved.
"So, who wants the job?" My smile doesn't reach my eyes as I walk in the door. I hear a flurry of motion from the other room before the door opens again and 7 people enter. The door swings closed behind them.
"Ok, I'm going to ask a series of questions. Whoever's answer I believe is best, will work in this company the best." I sit in a chair and cross my legs while my iPad out of my Chanel.
"Ok," I look over at them, over my nose." Let's begin."

<<hour later>>

"Thank you all for coming out, and you will all still get recommendations to other hospitals as well. Larson Peters?" I open the door to the rec room again.
"Yes, ma'am?" He says nervously. "Wait here while I see to the other interns. The six of you may go."
They slink past me, heads down in dejection. I resist rolling my eyes.
"The next group. Please."
The 12 enter but funnily enough, I already know which intern I'm choosing. The girl with the blue hair had the best essay and the best edit.
"Thank you all for coming but you 11 May leave, you already know why and your recommendations will be mailed within the month." I reopen the door. "You, blue." I say turning towards her slightly frightened expression. My face softens and I smile at her. "You'll be fine. Stay with the other intern till I'm done with the next group."
She nods and smiles before rushing out and sitting in a far chair.
The last group rushes up. I open the door for them and they file into the room to around the tables. It still freaks me out that they're all my age or older, but oh well.
I about to turn to the group as my phone goes off. I take it out and turn away. It's Samantha.
"Boss," I say.
"The London unite called."she says, "we didn't get the 3rd or 7th."
"What?!? What about the 5th??" I yell into the phone. If we didn't get the lesser deals on land, there's no way we got 5th.
"It's a yes."
I stop. I take a deep breath before I continue. "...really?"
"Yes."
I huffed out the breath. "That's the first thing you say."
She scoffed in the phone. "But the news sounds so much better!"
"Ok, bye."
She hung up. Weirdo.
I turn back around to the group. "Each of you, give me a reason to higher you. Each one needs to be different." I say, going back to sit in the chair.
They look at each other and fidgeted before finally a smart looking girl speaks up about her being all high and above the rest. A boy with glasses went next as he talked about being accepted into multiple colleges. A girl wearing a coach bag bragged about being accepted into numerous other internships but she, "knew that this one would be most worth it to her." I again resisted rolling my eyes.
They all went through different monologues of who's better and who's best.
Finally, finally, a girl in a red coat speaks up.
"I would like to join This company because this company is the only company in the world that donates to a multitude of charities." She hesitates nervously before continuing. "I want to be a part of that help." First person to talk about someone other then themselves and she talks about my favorite part. Go figure.
"Ok, the rest of you are dismissed." I get up and push imaginary stray hairs out of my face. "What is your name again?" I ask as the rest file out, a few mumbling obscenities. "Dove Jenks." Dove looks at her shoes while picking the ends of her sweater.
"Ms. Jenks." I walk up to the door." Follow me. We'll collect the other two and I'll show you to your supervisors."
I'm about to open he door when she opens it for me with a megawatt smile. "Thank you." I say.
She smiles tat smile again. "Any time, ma'am."
