"Oi! Are you listening?"
You looked up from your porridge, startled back into reality as Ron snapped his fingers over the breakfast table. "Mhm." You mumbled, fiddling with your spoon.
Ron smirked. "Right. And what do you think about it, then? Should I ask one of Hagrid's blast-ended screwts to be my girlfriend?"
"That sounds lovely." You responded absentmindedly, fixing your gaze on a particularly lumpy chunk of porridge.
Ron turned to Harry, who look equally as dazed. "You hearing this?" Harry shrugged. "I think that's a brilliant idea, Ron."
"What is wrong with the two of you? You've been practically asleep all morning." Harry mumbled something incoherent.
Ron shook his head. "Blimey. Hermione, can you see me?" Hermione, already rather annoyed, lowered her copy of The Daily Prophet. "Yes, Ronald. Quite unfortunately."
"We're just tired." you managed, straightening up a bit. "Stayed up late doing potions, didn't we?" You nudged Harry from under the table.
"What? Oh...oh, yeah. Lots of divination homework."
Hermione frowned. "I thought I had helped you finish that divination essay, Harry."
"Extra credit!" You offered, standing up and picking up your schoolbooks one by one before grabbing Harry's hand rather forcefully. "I've got arithmency. Harry, you should head to charms. See you later, you two!"
You hurried out of the great hall, Harry trudging along behind you. You had barely touched your meal, but you couldn't manage to keep your mind focused on food. Once the doors had shut behind you, you turned to face Harry with furrowed brows. "Lots of divination homework?"
"I don't know! My mind hasn't exactly been on track this morning." Harry dropped his head, letting a small smile form on his face. You crossed your arms. "What?"
He shook his head, looking back up at you. "No, nothing. I was just thinking."
"Harry-"
"Listen. I...look Y/N, I know you don't want the others to catch on-"
"You're right, I don't." You interrupted. This wasn't entirely true. In fact, you wish you could tell the whole great hall about how it felt to have Harry's lips on your neck and hands on your-
"But," he started again, "I don't want us to just refuse to look at one another at all."
You nodded. "That's fair."
A group of Hufflepuff girls exited the great hall behind Harry, chattering about something you couldn't make out. The two of you followed them with your gaze until they were out of sight. Harry turned back to you. "Could we talk about this somewhere in private?"
Without waiting for a response, he turned a corner and tried the door to a classroom. Upon seeing it was empty, you awkwardly walked in, Harry following and closing the door behind you.
"I, erm-"
Before you could speak, Harry had his hands around your waist and was kissing you just as he had the night before. At first, you feigned reluctance, prompting him to let go and start spluttering apologies, but you were quick to pull him back in, wrapping your arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. You could feel a smile form on Harry's face as you kissed him, a smile that turned into soft laughter.
"What?" You asked between kisses.
Harry pulled away for a moment, his hands still glued to your waist. "I was going to say something, you know. I didn't just want to snog you in here."
"Is that so?" You raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah. I was going to go on about how if you wanted to keep confidentiality we would have to be more careful and everything, but I took one look at you and I couldn't think about doing anything else but kiss you."
You laughed softly. "Look at you, being sweet."
"Am I not usually?"
"You are. It's just...I like this. I like it here with you."
Just as you were about to go in for another kiss, the door burst open and there Ron and Hermione stood, gawking at you. The two of you quickly sprung apart.
"What did I tell you, Hermione?"
"Yes, alright."
Harry cleared his throat. "What's, uh...what are you two looking for?"
Hermione rolled her eyes, shooting you a small smile before turning around and attempting to drag Ron along with her. "Nothing at all. Come, Ron."
"But Hermione, I told you they were-"
"Ronald!"
Ron grinned, shaking his head and letting Hermione lead him out of the classroom. He mouthed something to Harry that you couldn't quite make out, and Harry responded with a chuckle before kicking the door shut again.
"S'pose we don't have to worry about keeping things quiet, hm?"
You laughed, rolling your eyes and pulling Harry in by the front of his robes.
