It all started when Shay Jackson moved into her cozy, beach house next door to Thomas Gibson. He was older and a ladies' man who thought serious relationships were a burden on his easy going lifestyle, but in reality he was afraid of commitment after his divorce. Shay was an independent medical student in a long term relationship and had a job opportunity at a local private practice near her new beach house. Fate brings the two together, sparking an irresistible attraction that upends both of their lives. As their bond grows, the unlikely couple must decide how far they're willing to go to keep the hope of love alive.
After a long day of moving boxes, Shay was all moved in with the help of her boy-friend, Carter. He now lived four hours away from Shay and had to head back early to his place because he had work early in the morning.
After finishing up doing the dishes from dinner, Shay poured herself a glass of wine to go out to watch the stars on the beautiful night. The chilled night air hugged her face as she pulled her blanket tighter against her body. It was a peaceful environment and beautiful terrain. Her attention was brought to her neighbor's yard, which was playing deluxe Beatles music outside by the bonfire. They were her only neighbor close by that wasn't separated by woods. She chuckled to herself knowing they would get along well.
Shay took one last sip before she walked back inside, setting the glass in the sink and heading to bed. In hopes of a good first day tomorrow at the private practice.

Shay's alarm rang at 6:00 am. She hopped in the shower and got ready for her day like she has been for her whole life.On her way out the door she saw her neighbor enjoying a cup of coffee in his one adirondack chair watching the sunrise. The slam of the door caught his attention, swinging his head around to meet eye contact with his new neighbor. He was tall with dark brown hair, almost black, his eyes were a soft brown and set off butterflies in Shay's stomach. His hair was tousled as if he just woke up. He was toned but not too scrawny or too muscular. Shay had short dirty blonde hair with brown eyes that turned hazel in the sunlight. She was short, 5'3 and had a muscular build.
Shay flashed him a smile and a quick, awkward wave. Little did she know he was starstruck by the sight of her and wasn't able to reciprocate the greeting. She was running late for her first day and decided to postpone the small talk for when she got home tonight.
--
It was a long, first day at work, but she learned a lot. When she got home it was 5:00. Shay slipped off her work clothes and put on a bikini hoping to get in an evening swim before she started to study.
Shay grabbed her towel and headed down to the dock. She looked at her neighbor's house to see if he was out at all. She couldn't deny the fact that she found him very attractive despite her relationship status and the slight age gap. She was 30 years old finishing up her last year at med school and he looked to be at 50. Carter was an attractive guy her age but she hadn't come to realize that they were just hanging on to the relationship because they already committed despite the lack of interest. They enjoyed each other's company however there was never a spark that made them feel irresistible to one another.
Shay dove off the dock immediately slapping the cold water waking herself up completely. When she resurfaced allowing air to fill back up into her lungs, her neighbor was out on his dock. He was even taller than she imagined. Wow is he a beautiful man, she thought to herself.
Shay swam over to the ladder and slowly exited the water. She could feel his eyes piercing holes into her skin and she knew exactly what she was doing. She reached for a towel patting down her dripping wet body before turning around to the handsome man.
"Hello," she said, flashing him a friendly grin still holding onto her towel exposing her nearly naked body in a flattering bikini.
"Hi," he said. His voice was so low and sexy but yet so kind, which sent shivers down Shay's spine.
Shay walked over to him and introduced herself offering her hand for him to shake. He met her halfway and took her hand in his strong grip. "Thomas, Thomas Gibson."
Heat rushed up to Shay's cheeks as she looked down trying to hide her bashfulness. Shay stop it. You have a boyfriend, this Thomas guy is way out of your league and older than you! She scolded herself.
"Obviously I'm your new neighbor and I'm new to this area. I actually work at the private practice in town while I am finishing off my last year as a med student." Shay said in hopes to keep the conversation going.
"Oh well... I'm glad that you chose to be my neighbor Miss Jackson; it's been getting pretty lonely around here and I am in need of a little socialization." He chuckled, leaving Shay speechless from not being able to process such a beautiful and adorable noise.
"Um well, I don't know if you have any plans tonight or if you like to fish but I was planning on going out on my boat. Not to create competition or anything but my catches have been pretty impressive lately." Earning a genuine smile and laugh from Shay.
"I would love to, thank you. Let me just go change real quick!" She responded.
"Okay, yea, no problem. I will be here,"
After getting ready Shay met Thomas at his boat, which was a center console.
"You all ready?" He asked, sharing a cheeky smile that gave Shay butterflies. She nodded in response. He hopped in the boat and gave his hand for her to grab. She noticed his masculine hands and arms with veins bulging out of the skin and his dark, thick arm hair trickled over his sun kissed skin.
"Thanks," was all she managed to say trying to hide her rosy cheeks.
