The Shabbat was Joseph's favorite day of the week; not only did it permit him to take a break from his travail, but it gave him time to dedicate a whole day to his God. Though he missed constructing his future dwelling, bonding with his kin and worshipping the Lord made it all worth it, for even the Almighty itself had taken the seventh day off to rest when first creating the world. Preparing their homemade altar, the young carpenter carefully added some incense inside an oil-fueled lamp, its pungent smell clearing his nostrils.

"Alright!" Jacob's voice loudly sounded throughout the house. "Gather around, children!"

In just a few moments, the whole of Joseph's younger siblings were on their knees in front of the altar, all five of them. Azariah, sixteen years old and only a year below Joseph, was always serious when it came to his faith, unlike fourteen-year-old Elam who loved to have a good time. Judah, proudly bearing his ancestor's name (one of Abraham's grandsons), was Elam's trusty sidekick and quite bossy at times which constantly bothered Yekushiel as he would always side with Adinah even though they were both denarians with only a year's difference separating them.

All in position, Joseph and his family commenced to recite their favorite worship songs together in one grave voice, those who knew the lyrics less well quietly faltered behind. Joseph made sure to raise his voice as loud as he could, proclaiming to God of his surrendering to His Will and His plans for him, whatever they might be.

Almost eerily, he had a gut feeling that something big would happen, something that would change his life.
