Part 1

**Max's POV**

A long time ago there was a virus outbreak that caused humans to form into beings that were dangerous to the rest of the world. These beings were eventually known as Vampires. Thankfully after some time, Vampires broke into two categories.

To start there are the pure bloods who only mate with others of their own kind to keep the blood line pure. After some time our ancestors found out that by doing so kept their thirst under control and allowed them more of a free range on their lives since they didn't have to drink human blood to survive. They were faster, stronger and didn't have the many anger issues that the others seemed to have gathered. Now from the outside this might seem like a good thing but for the Pure bloods it was a lot of responsibility and pressure. There were only two forbidden laws that are meant to never be broken no matter what.

Rule #1 - Never bite a human

This rule was a dangerous one because as soon as a pure blood bites a human their souls, thoughts and feelings are linked to the human and vice versa. The dangerous part about all of this was that those weren't the only things that become linked after the blood transfer... The humans life span becomes the vampires. If the human dies, so does the vampire. After a pure blood is linked, there is no way to reverse the effects because in order for the pure blood to survive at all, they must feed on that one human at least once a week or they will die.

Rule #2 - Never have more than one child

This law has always been an odd one, nobody actually knows the reason for this except for the ancients. The problem with that is that the ancients don't share why its forbidden. Only thing everyone knows is that if you are caught with a second child, the child is sentenced to death no matter how old they are.

As far as anyone knows, these two forbidden laws haven't been broken in almost 5,000 years.

Now the other category of vampires are called half-bloods. They are less important than pure bloods because they are considered tainted for mixing with humans. One main difference is that, pure bloods don't drink human blood but for half-bloods they have to feed at least once every three days or they will die. To add to that, some of them have extreme anger issues or are psychologically imbalanced.

Now the good thing about both categories is that they can usually hide their identity perfectly. The only time there images would slip would be if there was an accident and blood was drawn. Usually there's all those myths about vampires having blood red eyes but that's just not true. When their image shifts, their eyes turn a bright blue like the sky and their teeth grow longer. If vampires weren't viewed as such hated creatures all the time, they would be viewed almost beautiful to a point. You know without the drinking blood part, but the eyes are pretty.

Win: "Max! Hey Max, wake up. Midterms are coming up and we can't afford to miss any more classes before they start. I don't know about you but I would like to graduate my last year of college without any issues or low grades. That would just be disappointing and kind of sad."

Not wanting to get up but knowing that I had to because I had been lying in bed for way too long thinking about old things. 

Yea school is kind of fun but I'm also pretty tired of it at this point.

Max: I sit up slowly and rub my eyes as I glance over at Win with a glare. "You've already graduated college 6 times Win, why is this still so important to you? We've been doing the same routine since I was 18 and I'm getting a little bored of it. We do college for 4 years, graduate, work for 10 years and then move to a new location before people realize we don't age."

Win: He sighs as he walks over to me and plops onto my bed with a lop sided pout. "You know what Max? You've kind of grown into a party pooper. We always do a different degree each time. Why is it boring to always learn new things. Its adventurous."
