"Why does she have to be so perfect?" A girl asked as she spotted Eleanor walking into the coffee shop.
"I know, I'm completely jealous of her." The girl's friend replied looking at Eleanor as well.
"She's rich, intelligent, pretty..." She trailed off getting lost in thought.
"Alexis, just go talk to her if you're that obsessed with her."
"Please, I'm not obsessed. I just think she's great!" The girl, Alexis, replied and rolled her brown eyes. She knew she wasn't obsessed and her friend was simply talking nonsense.
"If you think she is so great then go and talk to her."
"Fine."
The girls began to walk to where Eleanor and her friends sat. Alexis became nervous as they advanced closer to the table. Alexis tapped on Eleanor's shoulder to get her attention. Eleanor turned around and looked at the girls. She smiled and her eyes seemed to twinkle.
"Hello!" She greeted cheerfully noticing the two girls seemed nervous.
"Hi, erm, my friend and I just wanted to say hello to you."
"Well, hi. My name is Eleanor, and you?"
"I'm Alexis and this is Janice." Alexis said.
"We wanted to tell you how lovely you look today." Janice explained.
"Oh wow! Cheers girls. That's so nice."
"Well, we should get going. It was nice meeting you Eleanor, cheers!" Alexis said and waved. Eleanor waved back and faced her friends once again.
"Those girls were so sweet." She told her friends.
"Wasn't it weird though?" One her friends asked.
Eleanor shook her head. "It happens quite a lot."
"It's because you're nearly famous." Another commented.
Eleanor rolled her eyes and shook her head. "Please, the only reason I even do any of this publicity nonsense is because of my Dad. He's the one pressuring me to do all the things that get me 'out there'."
"Yeah, yeah. We've heard plenty of your daddy issues." A girl named Claire finally spoke up. She was the most blunt of the group and was completely envious of Eleanor.
"It's not 'daddy issues', Claire." Eleanor defended. "That's not something you should bring up either."
Claire smiled almost too happily. "Whatever you say, your majesty."
Eleanor took a deep breath and forced out a smile. "I'll catch up with you all later, I have loads of things to do."
She stood up from the chair and waved to her friends. Eleanor never liked to show weakness, especially when it came it Claire Abney. Claire would always try to break Eleanor's "perfect shell" as she called it, wanting to prove to people that she isn't as perfect as she seems. Eleanor wasn't trying to fool anyone; she simply wanted to make everyone happy which was a seemingly impossible task to do. That's Eleanor for you though, only wanting what's best for people.
She heard the cafe door close behind her, bringing her back from her thoughts of Claire. She looked around to see if her father had called the driver like he had previously said he would. When she didn't spot the car she began to walk towards her home that wasn't too far from where she was.
Sure, Eleanor may have a lot of followers on social media sites, but she didn't think of herself as famous. Paparazzi didn't follow her around 24/7 and people didn't come up to her and ask for autographs. Of course the occasional girl or boy would take pictures with her or she would turn up in a magazine when she was with her father, but that didn't seem to matter to her.
