The cold water from the Black Lake waded almost up to your knees as you splashed along the shore playfully, Ron by your side. He dipped his hand into the water and splashed the cool water onto your skirt.
You laughed and kicked at the water in front of you, spraying the whole front of his shirt with water.
He chased after you through the shallows, you laughing hysterically as he got closer and closer to you.
His warms hands wrapped around your waist and tensed as he was about to pick you up. You grabbed onto his hands and said between laughter, "Ronald Weasley, you better not!".
Just before your feet left the water, you heard Hermione's voice coming from below the tree next to the shore.
"Y/n, Ron, honestly you two, we have a test in charms tomorrow and this is all you plan on doing? What's going to happen if you fail?", her strict tone made you roll your eyes.
Ron set you back down and his hands left your waist. You leaned your head back and saw him towering over you, his chin nearly touching the top of your head as he glared out at Hermione.
"Come off it Hermione, we're only having a bit of fun. It's about time you tried it," he retorted as he waded back to his shoes and socks, you following in his wake. You pulled your socks and shoes back on and trudged back to where Hermione and Harry were intently studying, piles of books and parchment scattered around them.
You sat down next to Hermione and pulled the closest book towards you and began flipping through the pages. For the next half hour or so, you sat in silence, all except for the noises of turning pages and the scratches of quills on parchment.
The sun began to slowly disappear behind the dark forest, casting an orange streak of light on the water's surface. The nonstop studying made you feel sleepy; you closed the charms book you had open on your lap and leaned your head against Hermione's shoulder. She reached her hand up and patted your head softly, her eyes never leaving the page she was reading.
As your eyes began to close, you heard someone wheezing and the crunching of grass under someone's feet come closer and closer to the tree you were all sat under.
You sat up straight at the sound and saw out of the corner of your eye Neville Longbottom come into view.
"Hey, guys!" Neville panted, holding onto his knees as he caught his breath. "Hi Neville", everyone responded in unison.
"They're announcing who's going to be the Tri-Wizard champions, come on!" he said after he caught his breath.
Everyone's eyes darted to Neville's reddened face in excitement. You grabbed your books and shoved them into your bag and swung it over your shoulder. Hermione held her hand out to help you up; you grabbed her hand and stood up. She began to speed towards the castle, leaving you scrambling behind her.
You reached the giant oak doors, pelted across the corridor, and through the Great Hall entrance. It looked as though every student was sitting on the edge of their seat, anxiously awaiting the results.
You followed after your friends to where their Gryffindor housemates were sitting against a wall.
You settled yourself down between Ron and Harry, Hermione sitting right behind you.
The chatter in the Hall paused as Dumbledore stood up and swept his arms in greeting to everyone in the room, extinguishing all the candles in the hall except for the ones inside of pumpkins, as he did so.
The Goblet was sat in front of the staff table, its bright flames dancing around in the reflection of every eye.
All of a sudden, the flames turned red; sparks began to fly from it as a tall flame shot into the air. A charred and burned slip of parchment fluttered out of it.
