Luke’s POV

When we heard Daniel and Elena were in the hospital we immediately rushed over. We didn’t know what happened. His dad told us they were attacked and he was awake but the girl was in a coma. Daniel had told us about Elena, not that much but we knew she was his best friend and he would bring her today.

“It’s for Daniel Sahyounie..” Beau was talking. I didn’t hear everything because I was very distracted. It was like my mind just wouldn’t work with me.

“Hey, Luke you alright?” James rested his hand on my shoulder.

“Yeah I’m fine.” I said and walked away, following Beau.

Before we entered the room Beau comforted me. He just knew this was a lot for me to handle. Beau waited with me a minute, I needed the courage.

While Jai and James entered the room I could see Elena. I turned away my head.

“Come on Luke. They need us.” Beau said giving me a hug.

“Why did this have to happen to them?”

Daniel’s dad came out the room.

“Daniel is asking for you two. They will both make it through, I promise.”

Beau already went inside then I finally followed.

Surprised as I was Daniel was laughing and acting like nothing happened.

“Finally Luke!”

Daniel was laying there, he looked totally fine when I looked closer he had a lot of stiches and his arm was in plaster. I saw everyone was going along with Daniel but you could see very well that they were concerned about him, they just didn’t want to show him, they didn’t want to let his mood down. I didn’t mean to but I just couldn’t. It hurt me to see one of my friends like this.

“How’s Elena doing?” Daniel asked, he may be laughing it away but I just knew he was worried sick about her. His dad answered while I walked over to her.

She had bruises all over her body, she also had some stiches. It was just like she was sleeping.

I felt so sorry for her. Not only because she had to go through this but no one came to visit her not even her parents. I wondered why.

“Can she hear us?” I asked.

“The doctor said she could.” Daniel said.

I took her hand and whispered to her.

“It will all be alright. We are here to help you. I know you don’t really know us but no matter what we’ll be here.”

I felt her softly pinching my hand. A rush went through my body.

Then she slowly opened her eyes.

“Guys, guys, Elena..!” I shouted not to loud. She looked at me very confused and not knowing anything.

“Dad! Help me get up. I want to see her.” I heard Daniel on the background.

“Where am I?” Elena softly said.

“You’re in the hospital.”

“Why?”

“You got shot.” I said, rubbing her hand.

She squeezed my hand.

“What?!” 

She wanted to sit straight up, but she fell down creaking of pain. Tears fell down her face.

“It’ll be alright!” I said stroking her hair out her face.

“I can’t even feel my legs.” She silently said. Beau kneelt next to her and whispered something in her ear. She smiled, closed her eyes then bit her lip.

“Did my parents come?”

No one really wanted to answer because we felt so bad for her. At that moment the doctor and the nurse came in to check on her.

Everyone left, but I couldn’t, she was still holding my hand and refused to let me go.

“Don’t go.” Her voice trembled. The doctor gave in and let me stay.

Another doctor also came in to check on Daniel.

“You’re her boyfriend?” The doctor asked.

“No, just a friend.” I answered awkwardly, I also couldn’t tell I actually barely know her.

“Well Elena, everything is looking fine. You’re progressing.”

I saw her smiling a little.

“What about my legs?”

“I think there is a chance you will get your legs back. You’re just going to have to do your best for it and train your legs very well.”

“Thank you doctor.” She said while the doctor did some other tests.

“You’re going to have to rest some more and in the evening I’m coming back and will let you know how long you have to stay here.”

She nodded and he walked away followed by the nurse. The others couldn’t come back in because the visiting time was over. Soon I had to leave too but the doctor had said I could take my time.

“I told you everything is going to be alright.”

Elena smiled.

“I’m glad, I finally get to meet you.” She quietly said.

I kissed the back of her hand.

“Where is Daniel?”

“He’s right over there. The doctor is also checking on him.” I looked over at him and saw him standing on crutches. He had a hard time with it. I could see on his face it did really hurt sometimes. He was struggling to walk but he was doing it.  

“You’re doing very well!” The nurse said. He finally smiled.

He came over to Elena.

He sat on her bed.

“Hey sweetie, how you’re doing?” Daniel said. “Stupid question! I’m so glad you’re alive Elena! It was the most tariffing morning of my life.”

Elena laughed.

“I’m glad I’m alive too.”

“Is Luke taking good care of you?” Daniel asked patting me.

“Yeah, he is. He’s very nice.” She smiled at me.

“Good good, that’s my bro.”

I didn’t really know what to say right now.

“Well I can leave tonight but I have a feeling you can’t, can you?”

Elena shook her head.

“If you want, I’ll stay.”

“No, you don’t have to, Daniel but thank you. Just come visit me tomorrow.”

“I will, we both will.”
