Saika looked at the building in front if her. It wasn't anything remarkable, just a place she wasn't familiar with. And that's what really all it took for her to say it was gonna be a boring year, once again.
Saika brought her milk carton to her lips, slightly pulling her mask down so that she can take a sip.
"Where's the class?" She looked at her brother when he spoke up. She gave him a shrug, not bothering to speak.
Tobio Kageyama rolled his eyes, already used to her sister's uninterest in everything and anything. He didn't expect her to talk if he was being honest. Living with her first 16 years taught him things, you know.
He was already in awe that she'd reject shiratorizawa and come here, just for him. Tobio would never admit it, but he needed his sister just as much as he loved volleyball.
They found a teacher and they asked from directions to their classroom. Soon enough, they entered their classroom and sat down at different seats. Saika chose the very last seat in the middle row; her preference was by the window, but it was already occupied. Tobio chose the third seat by the window.
The class started and since it was only the first day, it included introductions and year's study plan and whatever.
Tobio was tapping his foot, excited to check out the volleyball club whereas Saika wanted nothing more than the school day to end.
And it did. Tobio grabbed his bag, looked at her sister and gave her a nod as she rushed out of the classroom. The girl only rolled her eyes and sighed, taking her time to pack up.
Their initial plan was to let Kageyama settle with his new teammates and Saika can visit if she felt like it, no pressure.
Saika thought Tobio's confidence over getting in without any hassle was amusing, but that's what happens when you're the best in what you do.
She thought of checking out the dance club once, not that she had any plans whatsoever to join it, but just to pass her time. And so she set out of her classroom, stopping at the pin board in the hallway to check which room the dance club occupied before getting a move on.
She walked near the little room, emptied of everything aside from a little bench and table at one side. She hesitated, contemplating whether or not it would be wise to enter their private space, before she spotted the window.
Saika walked over to it and rested her forearms there, shamelessly looking in. There were hardly seven girls, all just aimlessly walking around and chatting. A few minutes passed and the club members showed no enthusiasm about starting.
If she was having doubts whether to join or not, it was confirmed that she would, indeed not join. Not only they were strangers, but also the fact that they were as enthusiastic about dancing as a koala was about working hard was the seal on the deal.
Without anyone noticing her, she slipped out of the halls and walked across the huge school ground to the gymnasium reserved for the volleyball club. She'd just go see how her twin was doing and then go on with her homework.
"Please captain, let me in."
Saika's brows furrowed as she heard the familiar voice of her brother. She turned around the corner and just right in front if her was Tobio and a bright orange haired boy.
She blinked, wondering why the hell are these two out when they're supposed to be practicing?
"Tobio?" Her voice was as soft as ever and admist all the door banging and shouting, the two guys heard her.
"Saika," Tobio murmured, surprised that she was here already. The orange haired guy looked at her in curiosity since the king of the court knew her name. Not only that, they looked unrealistically alike.
"Why are you, well, outside the gym?" The raven haired girl's eyes skimmed around. "Are you practicing outdoors?"
Hearing this, Tobio flushed as he remembered why he was out of the court. Saika's eyebrows shot up a millimeter and she began to comprehend what was happening.
"Well uh, you see..."
. . . .
It was evening. Saika was hungry. And bored. And pissed.
Bored because she's been watching her brother set to the human tangerine, whose name was Hinata apparently. Pissed because her brother was acting like a complete stuck up pain in the ass.
"Can you spike a little slow?" Hinata looked at the taller guy with hope in his eyes. He just wanted a set but clearly, that was too much to ask for.
Saika was getting annoyed and was surprised how patient this orange guy was. His previous teammates didn't take it as well, unfortunately.
She rolled her eyes and went to take out her textbook, hoping to read in peace, but then a freckled guy with olive green hair walked in the part of the field they were in. With him was an inhumanely tall boy with blond hair.
The look on his face depicted Saika's usual foul mood with nothing and everything in particular.
She paid them no heed and went back to reading, however her interests were peaked when she heard the blond say "king of the court."
Oh this ought to be interesting, Saika thought as she lowered her book a bit and crossed her legs from her seat on the field bench.
"...what're you gonna do about it, king?" The blond said with a smirk.
This could go two ways; ending up in a nasty fight or the two guys parting ways with just a word war.
Saika knew that and she was interested in seeing what would happen next. Up until now, people thought Tobio was too intimidating and didn't dare getting on his bad side, so this was definitely something new.
The banter went out for a while, Saika gradually lost interest since her brother wasn't getting provoked but he wasn't calm either.
Anyhow, feeling slightly prouder, she went back to reading until eventually an upperclassman interrupted them, asking them to stop practicing and go home since it was late.
And somehow, Saika found herself walking besides Hinata Shouyou who babbled about seemingly everything, mostly volleyball, while she sipped her milk in peace.
Maybe the annoying Tangerine isn't so annoying after all.
