God, why was it so hot. As I sat in the crowded classroom, I watched students fan themselves with their notebooks. One guy even took out his water bottle and poured some water on his head.
No doubt I was also doing everything I could to stop sweating like a pig but to no avail. The stupid college's air conditioning system broke down and for 3 days we have had to suffer the blistering heat. Everyone was clearly annoyed and uncomfortable, not to mention a little grossed out. Seriously, the guy sitting to my left smelled like he bathed in B-O this morning and the girl sitting to my right couldn't seem to move without her legs making a sticking sound with the chair. Not that I blamed either of them, I was probably worse than both of them combined.
I sighed and tried to focus my attention to the lecture. Yeah, I already knew that mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell...everyone knows that...who doesn't know that...ugh, how many more minutes are left? The more I tried to focus on paying attention, the more I focused on focusing and ended up completely disregarding the lecture.
I fanned myself with my notebook and tried to prevent myself from becoming irritated. I was in a bad mood this morning. Somehow I didn't hear my alarm clock go off and ended up being late for class 30 minutes. In the process I hit my knee on the corner of my dresser causing a bruise to surface and somehow managed to fall up the stairs in front of a bunch of people causing the jocks behind me to call out and laugh. Not to mention the fact that I didn't even have any coffee.
I drummed my fingers on the desk and looked around. Clairissa, my roommate and good friend, normally would have woken me up if she saw I wasn't awake, but she spent the night at her boyfriend's house and had apparently decided to skip class as well.
I glanced at my phone to look at the time. To my relief I realized that class would end in 3 minutes. 3 minutes and I could get out of this stink hole and get some cold caffeine in my system.
I stared at my phone and watched the minutes change. Finally, the professor dismissed us and I packed my books and darted for the door. The college had a couple coffee shops on campus and one of them just so happened to be 2 minutes away.
I hurried my way there, anxious for the comfort of my favourite drink. As I entered the coffee shop, the pleasant smell of freshly brewed coffee filled my nostrils. I inhaled deeply and went to order an ice coffee.
Once I received my ice coffee I left the coffee shop and started walking towards the college park. I had to meet up with my friend Peter, since he apparently wanted to ask me something.
You see, Peter and I had become really good friends at the beginning of last semester. But as our friendship progressed I realized that he might have not seen the whole thing as "just friends". We never really talked about it, but I was really dreading this encounter because I knew that he'd finally built up the courage to do something about his situation. I mean, I hoped that I was wrong but I had a feeling that that was not the case.
My phone vibrated in my pocket. Using my one free hand, I checked my phone. I had a text from Clairissa, Peter and my best friend Hazel.
Just as I started reading Clairissa's text, I slammed into someone. The sudden and unexpected impact caused me to tip my hand and spill my freezing iced coffee all over me.
The coldness of the drink seeped through my shirt, causing goosebumps to surface on my skin. I stared down at my new shirt, momentarily stunned. It took me a few seconds to get over my initial shock, by which anger replaced it. Just as I opened my mouth and looked up, the words caught in my throat.
Standing before me was the hottest guy I've ever seen. I couldn't help but look him over. He was at least 6', wearing a slim black t-shirt and jeans. He was very well structured, demonstrated by his broad shoulders and defined arms. As my eyes traveled up to his face, it looked like it had been created by god himself. He had a strong jaw line and perfect full lips, accompanied with short dark brown hair.
