You walk into the house, uncle seems upset. Is it about the letter? He said not to talk about it but I can't seem to shake this feeling. Kenny is fast asleep on the couch. You walk past him, careful to not wake him up. Uncle Nick is at the table, nervously tapping his fingers on the wooden surface. You sit next to him, quiet, but loud enough to make him flinch. He looks toward you as if to question why you're here. "I....got fired today.......but I was thinking about looking for a job at this new pizzeria in town", you spoke softly. He nods his head, acknowledging you. "Oh.", he gets up to go to bed. "Goodnight", he leaves. It hurts to think that he doesn't particularly care, but atleast he doesn't do anything physically to you or Kenny. You sit there, just thinking. You slowly drift off to sleep.

It's Monday morning. You used to work the weekend but now you don't have a job. You dropped out of highschool after dad lost custody. That was two years ago, as a freshman you dropped out. Kenny is only four now so uncle Nick most likely already dropped him off at preschool. God my life is a mess. You lift your head up to check the time. Nine o'clock. You decide to get up and go change. As you're heading back to the living room you notice Uncle Nick sitting on the couch. "I'm going to head to that interveiw later", you spoke. He just nods his head and goes back to the television. "Asshole", you mutter the words under your shallow breaths. If he ever heard you say that he'd have your head hanging over the small television. You walk out the door.
