Chapter 1: Two Weeks Before

Two weeks before

Liam's POV-

"So you're family is going to Colorado?" my best friend Niall asked as we walked down the stairs and down the long hallway to the lockers.

"Yep." I said, putting in the combination to mine. 55, 4, 26, 10. He did the same and we opened our lockers at the same time.

"You don't seem too exicted."

"I am." I lied. But secretly, I wasn't. "Okay, fine. I'm not."

"Why?" he asked, closing his locker.

"Because.....remember the Payne family I told you about?"

"Yeah, I do. What, is their daughter a hot babe and you don't want to break up with Lucy to be with her?"

"No, that's not it." I said. "I'd never do that to Lucy. Their daughter is ten, anyway. But me and their son Louis are switched at birth."

He laughed. But he saw I wasn't laughing. "You're serious?"

"Yeah. So Lelia and Kaylee and Logan are his siblings, and his little sister is my sister."

"Whoa, dude. That's messed up."

"Yeah, it is." I said, slamming my locker shut. Before we could say anything else my girlfriend Lucy trotted up to us.

"Hey Li." she smiled, giving me a hug. Not far behind was Niall's girlfriend, Charolette, who we call Charlie, ran up and practically threw herself at Niall. He laughed, but I knew him and Charlie had been pretty serious. They'd only been going out for two months, while I'd been going out with Lucy since six months ago.

"Hey Lucy." I said.

"What's wrong?" 

"He's--" Niall started, but I interrupted him.

"Just having a bad day." I interrpted.

"Oh, I'm sorry. But hey, that kid from the football team? Zayn? He's having a party tonight, so if you want to come it might cheer you up."

"Yeah, come on Li. Let's go." Niall teased.

"I can't. I have to pack for Colorado."

"Isn't that like a week and a half away?" Charlie asked.

"Yes but--"

"Come on, please?" Lucy asked. "For me?" 

"Okay, fine. But only if Niall and Charlie come."

"We'll be there." they both said.

Louis's POV-

"So.....you were switched at birth?" my best friend Harry asked me as I was packing my bags one afternoon.

"Yeah, I am. So Lauren isn't my real sister."

"That.....that really stinks, bro." he said, plopping onto my bed and looking at the picture of me and Lauren last Christmas.

"I know. And I'm moving to New Jersey when school ends so I won't get to see her much. And you."

He sat up. "What?!"

"I can't see you once I move. I mean yeah I'm sure I'll come back for holidays and on school breaks and stuff but other than that it's no Louis Payne--I mean, Louis Tomilinson for the rest of....forever."

He got up and hugged me playfully. "I can't lose you best friend!"

I laughed and grabbed a shirt out of my dresser, throwing it into the suitcase. "You'll be fine. I'm not leaving until the end of the schoolyear. It's January."
