Pulling The Strings

Chapter 9

*Present time* *No one's POV*

"START!!!!"

And just like that, they were off. Every student from every first year course barreling down the narrow tunnel in hopes of getting out first.

Before they could escape, the air chilled. Ice spread across the ground and trapped many unsuspecting contestants in the tunnel. Feet frozen to the ground.

The culprit of this stunt could be seen running out of the tunnel up ahead to the first obstacle. It was only seconds before many of the students evaded or broke free from the icy prison.

Izuku smirked as he figured he would try one of the few new tricks he picked up while training his quirk. His shadow morphed into a medium sized circle around him.

Pitch black tendrils reached up from the circle and wrapped around izuku's body. Slowly his body descended into the pit.

"LOOKS LIKE SHOTO TODOROKI HAS TAKEN THE LEAD AFTER HIS SHOCKING FIRST MOVE TO SLOW DOWN THE COMPETITION!!!!!!"  Present Mic's voice echoed off the stadium walls.

"LOOKS LIKE HIS STUNT DIDN'T FOOL EVERYONE, BAKUGO KATSUKI IS CATCHING UP, WITH THE OTHER FIRST YEAR COURSES IN HOT PURSUIT!!!!!!" Present Mic yelled.

No one noticed the shadow that was darting across the ground a few meters behind Todoroki. As the ice user continued to run, he noticed the robots up ahead. 'This must be what the entrance exam testers went through.' He thought. 'Pathetic.' With that in mind todoroki completely froze a robot that was reaching out to grab him. As he ran past, many others tried to follow. But as they did.....the giant ice figure started to fall. "I would be carefull if i were you." He started, "I froze them on an angle....on purpose." Izuku paid no mind to the comment, as he was next to todoroki and was out of harms way.

That wasn't the case for the other students tho. As a red haired boy could be seen running under the robo before it collapsed. Many others stopped and stared. "Are people really gonna die here?" "is that kid okay!?" shouts of distress were thrown around just to be silenced by the sound of metal against metal. 

Suddenly the red haired boy emerged from the robots pieces. "I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!!" He screamed with his fists pumped into the air,

Back with Midorya and Todoroki, Midorya had just emerged from the ground to look at the next obstacle. "HERE WE ARE FOLKS.....THE FALL!!!" Present Mic screamed with excitement. "EACH STUDENT MUST GET ACROSS THIS CAVERN WITH OUT FALLING TO THE BOTTOM, AND IF THEY DO, THEY'RE OUT!!!" He finished. Todoroki shook of the shock he had acquired from seeing Midorya just pop out of the ground. He started to skate across the ropes with ice. Midorya on the other hand looked into the cavern.........shrugged..................................and JUMPED IN. He immediately fell into the dark abyss out of peoples sight and appeared on popped out of the darkness on the other end. In FRONT of Todoroki, and took off.

"YOU LOVE TO SEE IT FOLKS, A NEW LEAD!!!" Present Mic commented. "BUT IS HE GOOD ENOUGH FO OUR LAST COURSE? I PRESENT TO YOU, THE MINEFIELD!!!!" He yelled. 'You've got to be fuckin kidding me.' Midorya thought grimmly. 'Well, I guess I can try out another trick.' He thought. He realized he had to hurry.  He could hear the inhumane screeching of Katsuki and Todoroki's ice skating. 

What he did next shocked everybody watching. Especially the people who know him. Midorya walked over to the wall of the stadium right to the edge of the stadiums shadow. He proceeded to bend down and put his two hands into the shadow on the ground. Then only a second later, the shadows started to travel up his arms and underneath his tracksuit. By this time Todoroki and Bakugo passed him and are fighting in the mine.

Then to the spectator's surprise, huge inky black wings tore from the back of his outfit, completely destroying the top half to show that his upper body was pitch black up to his neck. One flap, two flaps, three just to get a feel for it. He took a stance, and flapped as hard as he could. The ground below him cracked with the pressure of his departure. He soured over the mine and right passed the two boys. And as if in slow motion, he winked at them and threw a rock he had picked up at Todoroki's feet, setting off an explosion in their faces as he passed.

"AND THE WINNER OF THE FIRST COMPETITION OF THE DAY IS NONE OTHER THAN............IZUKU MIDORYA!!!" Present Mic announces.
