Lazzi carefully tucked Calvin's urn on his backpack. He smoothened his shirt, looked at himself in the mirror and tousled his dark brown hair until it turned black. He blinked and the rare color of his eyes vanished and turned to a more mundane dark brown.
"Hello everyone."
Every human being across the supercluster paused at whatever they were doing, may it be the affluent ones from Gaia or the commoners of Kepler. People outside looked at each other in confusion as if confirming if they went just crazy or it was happening for everyone. It was the most bizarre after all. They just heard a voice in their head other than their own.
"Don't panic!" the voice continued. "It's me, Lazzi, the current holder of four Obelisks. Sorry for hijacking all of your minds right now. Don't worry, I just have a message to tell all of you. You won't be seeing me for now. But it doesn't mean that I will run away from my duties as an Obelisk. Far from it. I'll be there whenever you need me but I'll be working in the shadows. I promise to maintain peace and foster the places deprived of it. You see, I've decided to distribute the Obelisks. But instead of choosing randomly which planet would be given the power, I'll be going undercover. I will choose the Obelisks directly based on their beliefs and principles, their kindness and their desire to help others. Take note, everyone has an equal chance. I'll be visiting every planet in the supercluster. It sounds complicated, I know, but do not estimate the abilities of someone who holds four Obelisks. I decided to do this so the next Obelisks would be someone worthy of protecting our future. Someone who's brave but also gentle, someone who wants progress but also wise enough that not all paths should be taken. Someone who will create a better future for all of us. Until I find those people, I would serve all of you with all my best. That is all."
Lazzi's eyes stopped from glowing. He sighed and held his chest. His heart was beating so fast but a sense of relief filled it slowly. He made the right choice, he told himself.
He clasped on the strap of his bag. "Ready Cal?" he whispered. Not expecting an answer, he just smiled and headed out for their next adventure together across the galaxy.
