The club was jumping. He was having fun. Even though he was turning 21 in a few hours, his friends had made sure that he was already well on his way to drowning his feelings. He was having a blast but something was still missing. Well, someone was missing. He was better. He had painstakingly dragged himself out of the misery he was in since she ended it. But he was honest with himself, he had still not really moved on. He was till stuck in the pain, he just ignored it better.

When he saw Jaycee over with Olyvia tonight he thought she was looking good. The alcohol had removed even his normal filter and he had told his sister that her best friend was hot. Now she was here and they were dancing.

His mind was starting to tell him to just screw it. It was his birthday coming up. He had a right to have some fun and be happy right? He had a right to stop living in the past and holding on to the pain right? She broke up with him. She wasn't here. Why was he letting himself wallow in it? It was time to seize the day. He had just made the decision. He was going to go for it.

He was about to go in for it when he saw her walking across the floor toward him. He froze. He could see that she wasn't wearing her normal make up. She wasn't dressed up like normal. It looked like she had just decided to come here and didn't take to time to get ready. She was coming toward him and he was at a loss about what was happening.

Jaycee was confused. One minute everything was going great. They were dancing and she thought Jack was finally going to make a move. She had a crush on him for years but he was always with Gabrielle and she was with her ex boyfriend, so nothing ever came of it. Now they were both single and for the first time he noticed her tonight. Not her sisters best friend, her. He called her hot and now she had her chance. But then something happened and he is frozen. He stopped dancing, he isn't even looking at her now. She thought she was finally going to get a kiss from him and now she might as well not even be in the room.

Gabrielle had no idea what had made her throw on her clothes to come here tonight. It was just something in the back of her mind that wouldn't go away. A little warning that if she had any hope of reuniting with Jack it had to be tonight, now. She could feel it in her bones that if she waited until his birthday tomorrow she would lose her chance. When she broke up with him she never expected it last this long. She didn't expect it to get so out of control. She was still not sure what was the right thing to do, but she did know that if she threw away any chance of being with Jack again she would regret it for the rest of her life. So she came. She saw him out on the dance floor. He looked like someone had been getting him drinks even if he wasn't twenty one quite yet. He was dancing with a girl when she first saw him. She thought she looked familiar, but she couldn't place her. A friend of his sisters maybe. She started walking toward him. When he saw her he froze. She could see his emotions cross his face. Disbelief, shock, anger, pain, anguish, hope, and longing all showed and were easy to read. All of them caused by her.

Gabrielle went straight up to Jack and stopped in front of him. He just stared at her. She then closed in and gave him a hug and leaned up to his ear.

"Happy Birthday Jack. I'm so sorry for everything. I still love you."

He stood there for a few seconds trying to process what was happening. She had just came up and hugged him. She had just told him Happy Birthday. She just apologized and said...

He brought his arms up around her and returned her hug. He squeezed her against him tightly like he didn't believe he would ever have this chance again.

"Gabrielle, I still love you sweetheart and I am so sorry for being such a screw up. I promise I will be better if you will give me the chance."

Gabrielle softly nodded into his neck.
