Fengjiu pulled her phone away from her ear when she heard Cheng Yu's shriek.
"Bai Fengjiu, I need all the details!" Cheng Yu was her bosom friend whom she grew up with. " I regret not having to attend this ball." She added dejectedly.
Cheng Yu's family owns one of the most refutable wine distilleries in China. She and Fengjiu grew up together having lived in the same neighbourhood.
"It's not a big deal."
"Oh, don't you lie to me. That's Dong Hua Dijun. You've been talking about him nonstop since your Milan escapade. And now you're telling me it's no big deal? What happened to the three years of admiration and paying back his kindness?"
Fengjiu sighed and looked at the skyline from the balcony. She was conflicted with her emotions. After parting in Hong Kong, she made her resolve to stay away from Dijun. Her short-lived memories of Hong Kong was all she could ever have to herself. She made a mental note that no good things would come out for both of them. Defying their fates would hurt a lot of people especially her family, not to mention, Dong Hua itself. She never wanted him to be subjected in any controversy that could affect TCE nor did she would dare to hurt Qing Qiu's as well. Not only that, it only became worse when Dong Hua had blatantly told it in her face.
Not meant to be.
What is it with those words that the pain seeped through her bones? It's like an acid that burns within her. She wanted to believe that those were just empty words and that she can still change it or the way he believes those. It would be better should Dong Hua gave a speck of care about them. But why isn't the other person willing as well?
She didn't even believed that there was no attraction between them. Even the blind could have felt it. So yes, she wracked her brains trying to decipher what happened during those days. Whatever did she do wrong?
"Do you know that the events in the gala are trending on the internet? Dong Hua is trending worldwide. Imagine the almighty Dong Hua Dijun, the untouchable, ice-cold person attended a social party? He never once attended socials. And you, my dear Fengjiu, you made it happen. You really have that magical effect on people."
"I don't. Maybe it's just a coincidence."
"There's no such things as coincidence. Then, tell me, why would he spend a crazy amount of money for a dance?"
"To help with the charity?" She answered.
Cheng Yu snorted. "Charity and civic works are what the VP of Tai Chen handles. Dong Hua Dijun do not care about those trivial things."
"Speaking of VP, he's actually looking for you."
Fengjiu could see Cheng Yu's eyes rolling at the mention of VP Lian Song. She haven't asked about the relation these two people have. She knew there was a history between them that her good friend hasn't told he.
"Fengjiu, enjoy the night. You don't have to worry about these things. And I'll see you tomorrow."
After her calls with Cheng Yu, Fengjiu was about to go back inside the party, but stopped in her tracks.
