Pete glared at the group before him. 

"NO. No way. I'm not letting you help."

"What? Why not?" asked Patrick. Taken aback, he jerked a thumb out the window. "You can't just go out there alone." 

Pete rubbed his hand across the nape of his neck. "You don't understand. William is..." he paused, searching for words. "William is... He's not someone you should mess with."  

Andy huffed. "So you think going out on your own with no backup whatsoever after getting your ass handed to you is a good idea?" He accentuated his point by folding his arms. 

Pete put a hand to his chest. His fingers curled into a fist as he spoke. 

"This is MY problem. I can't let you guys get dragged into it."

Joe, who had been watching the scene go down, chose that moment to speak. 

"As touching of a sentiment that is, you're gonna have to just deal with it. Besides, this isn't just your problem anymore." 

Pete started to calm as Joe continued, "If his gang is attacking humans, then it's our problem too."
