Within the Forest of No End, the nymphs at first appeared.

The firstlings of the world they were, by goddess Gwaena reared.

Amid the trees, the nymphs did walk with hair of flow'r and leaf.

They sang and danced and served the woods and never knew of grief.

The children loved their life of ease and served the woodlands well,

where Gwaena planted sapling trees, that grew to Drimmadel

A thousand years, a thousand feet, the ancient trees grew high

The branches reared, the roots dug deep, and 'neath them shadows lied

Twas then that many climbed aloft, the rest kept fen and moor

The paradise was torn in two, the canopy and floor!
