♛ Violet ♛
My eyes slowly opened as I saw..."Mike?"
I tried to move forward towards him, but couldn't. My hands were chained to a hard concrete brick wall. They were so tight, I could feel my blood having a difficult time flowing and I didn't know how much time it had been since I had these on. And to add to that, teenagers I thought were dead were alive...and..where was Mike's notebook? It felt too overwhelming. The last thing I felt was knife-through-your-head pain. Ouch. It hurt so bad, my last wish was to die. I suddenly remembered Konaru's voice...My thoughts quickly switched to Konaru and Tyler. Did they make it? Did they survive the maze...?
"Hi Violet! We're glad you woke up. You can't move."
I heard a sad and exhausted voice that I recognized as Cora's.
"Wh-wha...?" My voice caught in my throat. I struggled to even speak because I was imagining things. My gaze moved from left to right, absorbing everything.
Cora, Mike, Violet and Jack. All hunched up against a wall, hands chained.
I was hallucinating.
"Yeah, yeah let that slide, we aren't dead 'blah blah blah' Been there, done that!" I froze at Jack's somewhat annoying voice. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be happy or disappointed to know he was alive right now. I couldn't process all this crazy information all at once... Well, now I remember why he was such a pain in the ass.
Someone cleared their throat. A large and stiff-like-a-board bodyguard standing in the corner of the room caught my attention before I could finish that thought. It was a male and he was sleeping on a chair near us, with a crispy cream donut in one hand.
Mike immediately sensed my confusion.
Oh Mike, oh mike. Roses are red, Violets — Squee! That's Me! — are blue. You're so cute and right now, I really want to kiss you! Even in the worst situations, his presence was enough to make my stomach flutter with a thousand butterflies.
As I finished that train of thought, Mike's eyes flicked towards the guard, narrowing on the sticky trail of doughnut icing on his shirt. Disgust was written all over his face."That's Bobby, he isn't the best prison guard." Oh.
Despite our current situation, I managed to lift the corners of my mouth. He smiled back. As we looked at each other deeply in the eyes, I forgot all my worries... Until I heard a soft dull clinging that seemed to come from the bodyguard's hands. My eyes went to them and I realized he had keys. I glanced at the tight chains wrapped around my arms and noticed a little crevice in which could fit a key. The key Bobby was holding to be specific.
Why would Seth just put four -kind of smart- chained up teenagers with a guy who has the keys to the chains in his hands so close to us. We could just snatch them up and escape. This was easy. Too easy. I stared at the tall Bobby sizing him up. What a too-clichéed name for a bodyguard, ey.
Whatever, I just knew I was alive. We're alive...
Weird.
Mike scooched up a bit closer to me but the distance was limited with these damn chains. "Yes, we're alive, Violet." He managed to utter as if reading my mind. The butterflies would never go away.
"...But- but I saw you all die!"
"Yeah! Seth made you think that— Bro, you're dumb." Jack was really getting on my nerves.
I looked back and forth from the guard to Mike. The plan was already coming to fruition in my head. Grab the key and escape. Easy as it sounds. The only downsides were the chains and I could only assume Bobby was probably stronger than all of us combined.
