It had been years since Fiend set his foot at their hospital. Ever since his mom died, he hated being in a hospital or even seeing one, but his father needed him this time, so he was obliged to go there. After the meeting held at his father's office, Fiend went to the rooftop to refresh his mind but, instead, Fiend saw a lady standing at the edge of the building. "What are you doing?" he said that made the woman jumped out of surprise and slip off the edge but, luckily, Fiend was on time and caught her by grabbing onto her waist. The first thing he noticed was those pair of mesmerizing blue eyes. "Uhm, hi, can you put me down now?" the lady said. Fiend put her down, the lady, then walked to the door, bidding her goodbye and thanking him. "Stupid. You didn't get her name.", he said to himself.

Weeks had passed, and Fiend goes to the hospital again. Staring at the city lights from above, a voice, familiar to him, came out of nowhere, "Hey, it's you again." It was the lady from before. They start talking, making themselves comfortable with each other. Fiend found out that the lady he was talking to had a sickness called Fatal Familial Insomnia, the same illness that also led his mother to death. The lady noticed that his mood suddenly changed. Fiend told her about her mother. "Oh, I'm sorry." the lady apologized. "You don't have to apologize." Fiend replied. Minutes of silence occurred between them. "Well, I got to go back. It's getting late." the lady said as she stood up. "Yeah, um, I'll help you on your way back to your room." Fiend suggested. "Oh, thank you. uh..." "Is there any problem?" he asked as he noticed the lady was struggling with something in her mind. "No. It's just that I don't know your name yet." the lady said awkwardly. "I'm Fiend, Fiend Ramirez." "Ohh. Fiend Ramir-- wait- are you, by any chance, the son of the owner of this hospital?!" the lady asked. "Yeah.", he answered, showing a small smile, amazed at how the lady reacted. The lady then spoke, "I'm Seraph, Seraph Vera."

The two of them became close as days and weeks went by. Fiend would always bring her fruits and meals whenever he stopped by. "Someday, I want to visit the ocean.", Seraph told him. "Well, it's not that far from here, though. I can take you there in thirty min-" "Nah, I can't get out of here." she cut him off. "Then that sucks.", he said, having a grin on his face, teasing her. Seraph let out a small laugh and looked out of the window. Fiend stared at her face, memorizing every part of it, from those deep- blue eyes, her eyebags due to her insomnia, pointy-nose, cute cheeks, and pale lips. "I will melt if you keep staring at me." Seraph jokingly said. Fiend laughed at her joke. Tears fell on her cheeks, "I want you to be happy. You are now special to me, and I don't want to hurt you." "I know.", he replied.

The cold wind blew the curtains by the window. They were both aware of their feelings for each other. They both know how they now care, cherish, treasure, and LOVE each other. "There is no cure to this sickness. I accepted it already. I know this is happening. I know that I will leave- but I don't want to." Fiend came close to Seraph's side, hugging her. He put their foreheads together and said, " I know. I also don't want it, but please, don't push me away. Don't beg me to stop seeing you because that's not going to happen. I will always stay by your side." As Fiend promised, he didn't stop coming by in her room. But as he visits by, he noticed how her body's getting thinner, her skin's getting pale, how hard for her to speak, and her eyes closed most of the time even though she's not sleeping.

Sharing on the bed, providing each other's warmth, they listened to the song 'Always Be My Baby' by David Cook. The warm orange glow of the sun suddenly became pale blue as the night time came. The cold breeze coming out of the window brushed to Fiend's face that woke him up. He stared at the lady he always wanted to see first as he opens his eyes. The moonlight struck that face as those mesmerizing blue eyes met his. He felt his heart rate accelerate, and his throat tightened as his vision became blurry. Seraph showed a smile that spoke a thousand words, her right hand reached out to touch Fiend's cheek. Fiend felt her warm hand, caressing his cheek, and wiping his tears. He closed his eyes as he felt something warm touched his lips. Seraph leaned in and touched her forehead to Fiend's, closing her eyes. She spoke, Seraph's voice was peaceful, "I love you." "I love you too.", Fiend replied.

The cold breeze coming from the ocean brushed to Fiend's skin, sitting at the shore, hearing the sound of the waves while watching the sun set on the horizon. His lips formed a smile as a little girl rushes towards him. "Daddy, tell me again about that story about the girl who became an angel, please?" the little kid happily asked. "Alright, I will but drink your vitamins first, okay?" "Yes, dad!" The kid ran back to her mom. Fiend stood up and looked in the sky and said, "You're going to like her for sure. She is a very sweet girl." He made a smile, "I am happy now, Seraph. I know that you are happy there too. You will always have a place here.", he said as he pointed to his heart.

The End.
