When the sun and moon meet its supposed to make a solar eclpise, this time it made a very awkward conversation.
1st september 1993
Aurora Black walked through the bustling King's Cross Station, her heart pounding with excitement and worry. She had just completed a long and tiring journey on the Knight Bus from Manchester to London, where she had to listen to Stan Shunpike talk about Sirius Black, the notorious murderer who had escaped from Azkaban prison just a few weeks ago.
Ever since his escape, Aurora had been hounded by the Ministry of Magic, constantly asking if Sirius had tried to contact her. It was only then that the Ministry revealed that Sirius Black was her father, a secret that her Aunt Morgan had already told her without the consent of the Ministry or Dumbledore. Although Aurora already knew the truth, she was still annoyed that people had tried to keep this huge secret from her.
As Aurora walked through the station, her thoughts were clouded with a bit of fear and uncertainty. She knew that going back to Hogwarts would be different this year. The wanted posters of her father were plastered everywhere, and every time she saw one, it was like looking at a male version of herself. Looking into the eyes on the photo was like staring right into a reflection of her own.
Despite her worries, Aurora pushed her thoughts aside and made her way to the wall between platforms 9 and 10. She looked around to make sure no one was watching, and when she knew it was safe, she ran straight into the wall, disappearing into the magical platform 9 and 3/4.
As Aurora boarded the Hogwarts Express, she knew it would be a while before everyone else arrived. She took a deep breath and looked around at the familiar train, enchanted to fit all of her belongings into her suitcase. The excitement of returning to Hogwarts was palpable, but the fear of what was to come lingered in the back of her mind.
Aurora was wandering down the Hogwarts Express towards her compartment when she caught sight of someone boarding the train through one of the windows. Her curiosity piqued, Aurora pulled a confused face. Who in their right mind would be boarding the Hogwarts Express 45 minutes early? Brimming with determination, Aurora walked towards whoever was boarding the train. But when she saw it was a grown man, she got ready to grab her wand.
Suddenly, the man turned around and smiled at the girl. When Aurora looked at him, she felt like she knew him from somewhere, but she couldn't quite place him. "You must be Aurora Black," the man said smiling slightly at Aurora, and Aurora stared at him in disbelief.
"How do you know my name?" she asked, her hand hovering over her wand.
"Oh my word, I'm so sorry. I just realized how creepy that sounded. I'm the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Lupin," the man said, chuckling nervously. "Professor McGonagall told me you would probably come early."
Aurora moved her hand away from her wand, still trying to make sense of everything. "Why does Minnie always guess stuff so well?" she muttered, then looked up at Professor Lupin. "I'm surprised you found out who I am through Minnie. The Daily Prophet has had a lot to say about me recently." When Aurora said that, Remus Lupin smiled. She reminded him so much of Sirius already.
"Anyway, Looney Lupin, I'm going to leave you now. Got places to be," Aurora said, trying to brush off the encounter. She continued her way down the train, her mind racing with questions.
Aurora wandered into her compartment, which was like every other compartment on the train, except for the drawings she had created on the wall and the seven engraved signatures on the door.
The signatures on the top read R.L, P.P, S.B and J.P while L.D, T.S and A.B were etched below, looking a lot newer then the ones above. Aurora knew each of the names on the bottom, as they were her own, Lucky's and Toby's.
She sat down on one of the seats and ran her fingers on the signatures on top. She recognised the initials, like she had seen them somewhere else before in the exact same order.
Deep in thought, Aurora felt her eyes closing slowly against her will, and before she knew it, she had drifted off into a light sleep.
