Hey! Thanks for taking the time to click on this book! If you read the description, you know what to expect. Without further ado, the first chapter/oneshot, based on Legend of Zelda.

The day was peaceful as the sun slowly rose above the nearby mountains in the beginning of its journey across the sky. It was already starting to warm up, and the occupants of the village could feel that it would be a sweltering day as they started work on their daily tasks. Out in the field, the three farmers that were tending the crops looked up as a fourth made his way toward them. One lifted a hand in greeting.

"Late again ain't ya?" He wore a crooked grin, as if he expected it. "I'm bettin' ya overslept again, didn't ya Link?"

Arriving in front of him, it took a moment for the youth to be able to respond. Link had run all the way from his home at the edge of the forest when he realized he had woken up late. His hair was scattered messily on his head, uncombed. He wore baggy grey pants that ended mid calf that met with soft leather boots. The blue wrap top that he had over a plain white shirt was cinched closed with a thin strip of his leather belt.

Finally catching his breath, Link managed a response, "Ah, sorry Uli. I think I might be a bit earlier today though."

The older man gave a heartfelt laugh at this. "Ya might be right, boy. Get ya'self a hoe an' start helpin' us."

Stepping forward, Link made a move to do just that when something attracted his attention to the far end of the village. Smoke was rising up. While it wasn't unusual to see the faint wisps of cook fires, the billowing black cloud that was becoming thicker and more apparent didn't bode well. Uli noticed his distraction as well, calling over his shoulder to the other two.

Rushing through the village, Link picked up on the shouts of people, most of them fearful villagers from the sound of it. The group of four arrived at the scene just in time to see a group of armed men shove back a village girl. Link immediately recognized her as Sera. The two often sparred together in their free time, honing their sword skills. As the wooden sword Sera had clattered out of her hand, her glare intensified.

One of the men in armor, perhaps more flashy than the others, stepped forward with a haughty smirk on his face. "We are soldiers of the usurped royal family, and direct servants of Princess Zelda of Hyrule's royalty. You should no longer fear, we are here to help and protect you."

Link furrowed his brow in confusion. The past royal family of Hyrule hadn't been on the throne for generations. The name Princess Zelda sounded familiar, if only because that was the traditional names that had been used for female heirs. That didn't matter much anymore however, as the Dragmire family was the ruling family now.

The hiss of steel on leather drew Link's attention. The captain had drawn his sword and now used it to gesture at the town folk. "Now that we're here, you can thank us by preparing a feast. We are going to protect you from those awful Dragmires after all." Though he smiled, there was a glint of a threat in his eye.

There was a rumbling crash as the house that they set on fire collapsed in on itself. This seemed to shake the townspeople from their state, and almost collectively they glared at them. Seeing this, the captain became angry.
"Hurry up now, a feast fitting for us will take all day to prepare." He lazily swung his sword up to rest on his shoulder, daring them to contradict him.

Unsurprisingly, Uli stepped forward. He was the mayor of the village, and perhaps the angriest of them all. "You come into our village, burn down a home, and expect us to thank you? It will take us weeks to rebuild that home, especially with the harvest coming up soon. It seems best if you lot leave."

A growl of assent spread through the villagers. Hearing this, the soldiers all narrowed their eyes as well. Sera, who hadn't taken the opportunity to get away, was roughly pulled up by her wrist. "Come now, don't you think you're being unreasonable?" The blade of the captain's sword rested extremely close to her neck as he held one of her hands behind her back.

There was a shift in the crowd's attitude at the obvious threat. A faint hesitation spread through the group. Without drawing attention, Link made his way toward where Sera's wooden sword lay abandoned when it fell from her grasp.

Before anyone could notice or react, Link launched forward. He aimed a strike at the captain's wrist, hoping to break his hold on either the sword or Sera, preferably both. Due to the surprise of the attack, the wooden sword slammed against the wrist of the hand that held Sera, and she quickly scuttled free.

After recovering from the pain in his wrist, the captain turned to glare at Link. "So you would rather be made an example of, would you?"

Link didn't say anything, but raised his sword, his face a mask of anger.
The captain lunged forward, swinging his sword vertically. Link side stepped the attack, then raised his weapon to block the quick horizontal that followed soon after. The steel edge of the captain's sword bit into the wood of Link's and stuck fast.

Not wasting a moment, Link twisted his arm sharply, snapping his weapon in two and disarming the captain. A small frown made its way onto the captain's face at this, but quickly vanished as Link thrust the hilt into his face. The wood made contact with his nose, breaking it and causing blood to flow freely.

Though Link and Sera had many matches over the years, he always was the better swordsman.

The captain stumbled back a few feet in an attempt to recover. There was a roar of anger, and almost as if it were a signal, all of the soldiers behind the captain drew their swords and advanced on Link. With blood still streaming out of his nose, there was still a light of triumph in his eyes.

Immediately, there was a shout from behind. "Get out of there Link!"

That got the blond into action. He spared a glance at Uli, before turning back to the soldiers. He scooped up the sword that the captain had dropped, and took off between two houses. There were shouts and foot falls behind him. A scream broke out, and it was all Link could do to not turn back.

Link ran into the woods, jumping over rocks and around trees. Soon, the soldiers had fallen behind, unable to negotiate the forest as well as one who grew up in it. Casting a glance over his shoulder, Link slowed slightly to catch his breath and thread the sword through his belt.

One thing was certain, it would be a while before he returned to the village.

So I think I'll leave this one off here. A bit of backstory so you know, if you want to, but I came up with this idea a while back, before skyward sword. Basically, the though was "what if Ganondorf wasn't the bad guy?" This led me to thinking, who said power was always evil? Wisdom, if used in the wrong way, can be bad as well.

Long story short, Ganondorf actually managed to take over Hyrule, and now ages later they are ruled over by his great-something-grandson, who inherited the triforce of power. The descendent of Princess Zelda inherited the triforce of wisdom, and courage has been lost to the ages. Zelda (great-something-granddaughter) wants control over Hyrule knowing it was her rightful place. So begins the story and such. Let me know what you think!
