YEAR 2019

Y/N'S POV:

I was in my living room watching a horror movie with my family. My sister, being the chicken that she is, sat right at my side holding onto my arm for dear life.

"Jesus Y/S/N, will you ease up?" I questioned, irritated at the pressure she was putting on my arm.

"Hell no, until this movie is over you're stuck with me." She said, making me roll my eyes.

"Can you two keep it down? We're trying to watch the movie." Our mom scolded. "Sorry, mom." We both said quietly. She shook her head at us with a roll of her eyes before turning back towards the TV.

"Don't go in there. Don't go in there. WHY WOULD YOU GO IN THERE." My brother yelled.

"SHH." We all yelled at him, making him look down, mumbling an apology.

That's basically how every movie night goes in the  Y/L/N household. Yelling, scolding, and talking takes up about ninety percent of the night. By the end, we don't even know what happened throughout half of the movie. Yeah ... we're those people.

Suddenly, our TV turned off, along with all the lights in the house. We all looked around confused, waiting to see if the lights would turn back on. When they didn't, we stood up and grabbed our cell phones, turning on our flashlights.

We walked towards the windows, seeing that the entire neighborhood's lights were out.

"Huh, must be a blackout." My dad said. "Yeah, I'm going to get the flashlights so we don't use up all of our phone batteries." My mom told us, walking towards the basement door. "Y/N, come help me, please." I nodded my head and began walking with her.

"That was so random, I wonder what caused the blackout." I said. "I'm not sure, but the lights will be back on soon." She reassured me.

We walked down the basement steps, heading towards a box labeled, 'EMERGENCY.' Opening the box, we grabbed three flashlights to take back upstairs.

I turned them all on then off to make sure they still worked before walking back upstairs with my mom.

We went into the kitchen, meeting with the rest of our family. "Here, we got a few flashlights so we don't have to use our phones." I said, keeping one while giving the other two to my dad and mom.

Turning them on, we began to walk towards the windows, attempting to see outside. An extremely thick fog washed over the neighborhood, making it almost impossible to see. "It's too hard to see in here, I'm going to go outside." My dad said.

"Why? What are you going to do outside?" My mom asked, stopping him. "I just want to see if any of the neighbors have their lights back on." He told her calmly. "Alright, Y/N go with your father please." My mom said to me, clearly unsure of his actions.

"Into that weird fog? Pass." I said. "Y/N, I'm not asking you to, I'm telling you to." She told me sternly. "Sure, fuck me right?" I said, extremely annoyed at her using me as some sort of sacrificial lamb.

"Y/N." She told me, looking at me unimpressed. "Okay okay I'm going." I told her, putting me hands up in defense. I began walking towards my dad as we went outside. "Lock the door, okay?" He told her. "I will." She said smiling at him.
