Author's Note: Wow, it's really hard to hate on these characters, but there's got to be some drama. Sorry Ron, Neville, Hermione and Harry. Please leave me some comments, I would love some constructive criticism!! As always, thanks for taking your time to read this, it means THE WORLD to me. Just to give you guys an idea of what's to come, Massey will end up in Hogwarts next year, but will he end up in Slytherin like everybody thinks? The plan is to do around ten chapters per Hogwarts year, and we've got three done. Also, the Dark Lord may make an appearance...stay tuned and enjoy!
I clutched my book, prepared to throw it at the intruder, when a familiar voice called out my name. "Ryddall?" The shadow stepped into the light, and a very sleepy looking Draco Malfoy stepped into the glow of the fireplace. I slowly lowered the book. "What are you doing- wait a minute, were you planning to attack me with that book?" Draco asked curiously. "I couldn't sleep, and yes, I was going to throw this at you. You scared me!" I said, giving him a playful punch in the shoulder.
"All in a day's work," Draco replied, wrapping an arm around my shoulder, and leading me back to the couch. "So what are you doing up?" I asked. "Couldn't sleep either." He said with a shrug. "But you look exhausted," I commented. "Seriously, though. Go back to bed. I don't want to have to drag your unconscious body to all of our classes on the first day." "Oh, but that, Ryddall Greengrass, is the magic of caffeine." "Sure it is," I paused. "Until you crash." "Impossible," Draco scoffed.
"Anyways, I came down here to see if a change of scenery would calm my mind." I started to get up. "Oh, sorry. I'll leave you to it, then." "Wait." Draco grabbed my wrist. "Would... would you stay with me?" I blinked, processing his request, and sat down next to him, snuggling up the way we had done as children. "Always," I yawned, and closed my eyes, drifting into sleep, my head on Draco's shoulder.

The days were passing quickly. I was becoming used to my classes, History of Magic was boring, and I was right, Quirrell was a joke. Today was our first flying lesson with Madam Hooch, and I was really excited. Madam Hooch was in charge of anything and everything that had to do with flying at Hogwarts. Naturally, she would be teaching our lesson. The only downside, we were doubling with the Gryffindors. Ugh. They had no tact at all.
During breakfast in the Great Hall, Pansy approached me. "Are you going to sit the lesson out? I'm just not sure, with my parents..." "Pansy. This is the only opportunity you're going to get like this. I say take it." "I know, it's just, what if they find out?" Both female children of pureblood society, we were not permitted to fly. Of course, that didn't stop me from spending hours on a broom with Draco, but us ladies were tasked with upholding society's expectations. Granted, I got away with more, seeing as my father was a single parent, but I was still expected to conform to the rules.
Suddenly, multiple owls cme swooping into the hall, some bearing parcels, and some clutching letters. I spotted Archimedes, clutching a box that seemed to be weighing his small body down. I quickly detached the parcel from Archimedes before he crashed, and told him to go to the Owlery to get some rest. Poor thing looked exhausted. I opened up the package with Greg's butter knife. Inside was a letter, a box of sweets from Missus Zabini, and a deep green cashmere sweater from Missus Malfoy.
I turned to Blaise and Draco. "Give your mum's my thanks!" "Sure thing Ryddall. You know, sometimes I think she favors you more than me," Blaise said jokingly. It was an accurate statement, though. Ever since the great Adorabella Greengrass passed away, these ladies were like my mothers, and they took care of me as best they could, always sending me nice things and such.
