I was on the island again, for the seventh time this week. I knew what was going to happen, but I was still shaking uncontrollably and scared to death. There they were, black figures in the sky. I look to my mom and she looked confused, but still scared.
"Nightwings?! What do they want from us?" she looks down to me noticing the scared expression on my face, "Hey Mako, we have to sta-"
Then she looked down with wide eyes, at the sword shaped tail that was skewered right through her stomach and into my arm. The tail was pulled out with more force then when it was stabbed through her. A pool of blood made. I could feel the little hooks on the sword-like-tail ripping through my arms flesh as my mom's blood splattered onto my body, the hooks created a noise that made you feel the sound. I looked around at the innocent villagers being brutally stabbed, clawed at, and burned. My eyes had passed it all to be fixed on my dad, who was fighting back at the black dragons.
I ran to him as he threw the last black dragon onto the ground. He looked at me and flashed "Where's your mom?" I looked back at him with more tears forming in my eyes, and he knew exactly what that meant. He couldn't let the black dragons hear so he spoke in aquatic, "Go back to Pyrrhia. Go to the tallest mountain near the sea. Now go!"
"EVERYBODY WAKE UP."
I open up my eyes quickly, and see Shadow at the doorway. He's always the one to wake us up in the mornings. I get up on my feet to go eat the breakfast that Watermelon caught, she's a good hunter for a rainwing- one of the best in the group. I walked into the eating room to see Watermelon ripping a cows limbs off and putting them into the meat bowls, and then getting another dead cow that she caught to do the same.
"Eww, Watermelon could you not make pools of blood on purpose? Because after people look at that they might not have an appetite," I complained with a disgusted expression on my face.
"Oh come on Mako, I'm sure they wont care. Plus I kinda like it," she replied defending herself, with a grin on her face because all the blood.
She's crazy. All she wants is blood, although she doesn't try to kill us... weird.
"Whatever, blood thirsty murderer," I teased. (Even thought it was true)
"Hey!"
I took a bowl and walked out the door. I went outside and opened my wings to fly, I flew to a big pile of huge rocks near the mountain. I squeezed in between a pair of rocks and went down a small hole to my secret room under rocks. The room was lit by fireflies trapped in jars, and had five tables next to each other that were covered in scrolls. The room smelled of paper and ink, because I was writing a story of my own. I grabbed a one from the table and sat down munching on a cow leg. I looked at the scrolls name, The Lost Princess: a story about the queen's daughter that went missing after like seven years that came back. I shrugged and started reading it anyways. I got pretty far into the scroll and then realized that I should have been back by now, so I squeezed out of the rocks and flew back to the shop.
"Where were you Mako?!" Shadow asked me as soon as I got in.
"I was flying, were you looking for me?" I replied with a curious look on my face.
"YES! Boss is sending me and you to Jade Academy to get the Dragonets!" he exclaimed.
"Whoa, slow down, the Dragonets as in the Dragonets of Destiny? You and me? All I do is cook," I said with visible confusion.
"I know! What do you think? Should we do it?" Shadow asked me.
"Yeah, if Starseer says so."
"Okay, I'll go tell him."
The rest of the day was pretty boring, no one came in and nothing else happened. After what felt like an eternity, it was night and we were going to sleep. I laid down and closed my eyes and getting ready if I get the same nightmare...
