We pull up to school and see Caleb and some of the other guys hanging in the parking lot. "Sooo, tomorrow is your first shift. Are you hoping your wolf feels anything for a certain someone??" I couldn't help but laugh and walk off.

"Hey! Where are you going? Wait up!" I didn't really have an answer. There was always a pull to Caleb. Ever since he saved me from the rogues, I was so drawn to him  I wasn't sure if he felt the same, but it isn't something I can share. I mean, mates aren't found until both are eighteen. He was going to be my Beta, there was no way the Goddess mated us together. It just didn't seem likely... no matter how much I wanted it, needed it.

"Hey!" I yelled as someone picked me up and rushed me back to Jess' car. "Hello?? CALEB, put me down! What are you doing?" I was struggling against a strong Caleb. "What do you think you are wearing? You're missing how many inches of this dress? And a sweater!" He was fuming. I was so caught off guard, I didn't even realize how close he was to me. I didn't notice how he was pushed up against me with both arms on either side of me, against Jess' car. He was taking deep breaths, I could see his chest rising and falling. He sunk his head, softly said sorry, and stormed off. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Amara... what.. what was that?" I didn't even know how to answer Jess. I still hadn't moved. We've been close before. We've even cuddled together, fallen asleep together... but this, this was different. "Amara? Are you okay?" I slowly moved off her car and shook my head. "Yeah, I'm fine. I have no idea what just happened." And with that, the late bell rang.

Caleb's pov:
I saw Jess' car pulling up and knew Amara was near. I didn't wait for her this morning, since she was going to be late. Sorry, but I'm not ruining my perfect attendance for miss sleep in. What is she wearing Jasper, my wolf, asked. I looked over at her. What IS she wearing?? Amara shouldn't be wearing something like that. There are unmated males everywhere. Jasper, she isn't my mate, I wouldn't be able to tell yet.. what's going on ?

You need to protect her. She's our Alpha. She is... more. Maybe.. Mate? Ours? Protect her.

Before I could even finish listening I was picking up Amara and taking her to Jess' car. I don't even know what I would tell her. How am I supposed to tell her to change? That's not my place " What do you think you are wearing? You're missing how many inches of this dress? And a sweater!" I saw how I was positioned. I felt... the heat between us? No, connection? I don't know. I dropped my head and apologized. I had to just leave. Turning around and heading into school, the late bell rang.

Amara's pov:

Jess and I didn't didn't have first or second together. As I sat in class, all I could think about was what Caleb did. Why did he take me back to the car? Did my outfit not look good? Why did he seem so possessive? Maybe I was just reading too much into this. My first classes went by quickly. Being the first day of school made it easier to space out. I wasn't too excited for third and fourth.

I was in advanced classes. Although Jess and I were turning sixteen, in a month, we were both in 11th grade, taking some senior classes.

My third was with Caleb, for Science. As I walked into class, the teacher had our seating arrangements. I was paired with a guy named Jackson. He seemed to be one of the new students this year. There were actually a lot, which is unusual. As I went to sit down I heard a low growl and caught Caleb glaring at my partner. I slowly sat down and let out a hi...What is wrong with me? He's just a dude, right? A handsome dude.

"Hello cutie, aren't you a little young to be in this class?" the moment he said cutie my entire demeanor changed. My Alpha side took charge. "First of all, my name is Amara and secondly I may be young but that just means I'm smart enough to belong here. So, I guess you're lucky enough to have me as a partner." After the initial shock, he let out a small chuckle and small smirk.

"Oh, you'll be fun." I honestly have no idea what he meant, and I didn't care. All I could focus on was the death glare Caleb was giving Jackson and the low growl escaping his lips. Thankfully no one else was able to hear it.
