Authors note: Sorry if it's not good. I'm just full of mixed emotions right now and lately I'm having trouble spelling things. I also didn't double check or edited anythings.

(Y/N) POV:
Location: ( unknown ), New York

I tucked in my necklace in my Oversize dirty gray shirt. My necklace is a dirty string with a golden corazón button hanging at the end. I don't know how to say that shape in English for some reason.

"Trick or treat!" I held open my black trash bag in front of the older woman that's holding a Orange glass bowl full of baggy goodies.

"What are you supposed to be, sweetie?" She ask politely as she place a bag goodies in my garbage bag.

"I'm a button!" I giggled looking down in my bag to see some homemade cookies inside the baggie with some lollipops. "Thank you!"

The older woman raise a eyebrow. "Not to sound rude but it just looks like a cardboard box cut into circle with some holes. Couldn't your mommy get a better costume?"

"I don't have mommy or daddy! Happy Halloween!" I turned around and ran away. I could slightly hear the older woman a gasp behind me.

"Come back! It's dangerous for a little girls to be out alone!"

I ignore her and continue my trick-or-treating.

I'm (Y/N). Just (Y/N). I don't know what's my last name or if I have one. I'm 8 years old. I lived in the streets my whole life! I think.

No family except for a friendly old homeless man that found me in the trash when I was a infant! He told me that he just found me when he was searching food on that faithful day. He told me he felt bad for me and didn't want to leave me, so he decided to take me with him. He wasn't a smart man but he had a big heart. He taught me the basics how to read and write. His English wasn't perfect but he tried and also taught me a little bit of Spanish. He also taught me how to defend myself if anybody wants to cause me harm. So basically he taught me how to whack people a stick and hit them in the no-no area.

He was real sweet but he never told me his name he said he doesn't even remember himself after so long under the 'influence' whatever that means. I just called him Mister or Sir, sometimes old man and papa by accident. One day I told him why he's homeless he just frowned before just whispering one word, 'drugs'.

He was a very sweet man. Always tell me to be careful not just with men but also women. Both can be terrible. And also he told me to respect everybody equally. Stay away from drugs, alcohol and sex. He said to never ever use drugs, alcohol is only for special occasions and sex is only for the person you are madly in love with but it has to be real love. He had trouble explaining what's real love but he basically said was what's your heart is telling you. Very sweet silly man....

Always made me laugh on my saddest days, always give me the best garbage when I was hungry. Not scared to hit a man or woman when they slap me or say something mean to me. Always give me the best looking clothes even if it's oversized. Give me such wonderful gifts like the necklace I'm wearing to this day, a piece of string with a golden corazón button at the end. He said he found it when a rich woman passed by him and her button popped off landing right in front of him. That day he found out it was made out of real gold he went to a pawn shop to see it was worth something. We went to a lot of pawnshops together. He came out of the shop happy seeing this is real gold and he could probably sell it for some money but thought I deserve this more. I should save this button and be careful with it.
He said a girl should at least have one piece of jewelry to wear even if it's just a button on a string. Such a very sweet man....
