*Emily's POV*
I quickly make my way back to the patio with a huge smile on my face. I'm about to go tell the girls about my conversation with (Y/N) until I see that the boys have joined the table. Morgan, Luke, Matt, and Will, JJ's boyfriend, are sitting next to Penelope and JJ. I calm myself down a bit before making my way back over to the table.
"So did you do it?" Garcia asks right as I sit down and I mentally curse her for opening her mouth.
"Do what?" Derek asks, looking over to me.
"Uh, I just had to return a library book," I say because that was the first thing that came to my mind. Derek laughs.
"Yeah right princess, have you ever even checked a book out from the library?"
"She was checking something from the library," Garcia says to JJ and they both giggle.
"Oh," Luke says with understanding, "Emily has a boy toy in the library?"
"No! And even if I did it's none of your business," I say shooting the girls a glare. Garcia just holds her hands up in surrender.
"Might as well tell us now Em," Morgan says as he reaches across the table and takes some of Garcia's food. "We are going to find out sooner or later." I roll my eyes.
"I would rather have it be later," I say but Morgan just smirks and the topic changes.
*Reader's POV*
After the final bell rings you start to pack up your stuff and make your way out of the classroom. Honestly, you've had a pretty hard time focusing ever since lunch. When Emily invited you to hang out last night, you could have brushed it off as something she did because of the party. But now she wanted you to hang out again when both of you were completely sober, and you were a little nervous.
As you walk down the hall you see Emily standing by the door leaning against the wall. When she sees you she smiles and walks over to you.
"Ready to go?" she asks.
The ride in the car was a little tenser than it was last night. The two of you sit in silence for most of the ride. Until you are stopped at a stoplight and she looks over at you.
"I can see the smoke coming out of your ears. What's going on up there?" she asks as she reaches over and taps the side of your head.
"I was just thinking about uh...it," you say awkwardly. She raises an eyebrow at you.
"It?"
"You know, what happened last night." She nods her head and gives you a look of understanding.
"Right, the kiss, well I guess technically it was multiple kisses, and one almost kiss," you blush and turn your head but Emily just laughs.
"Hey, it doesn't have to mean anything if you don't want it to." The light turns green and she starts to drive again.
"I don't really know what I want," you say in a half-whisper. Emily sighs.
"Honestly, I don't either."
"I've never dated anybody before so this is all new to me," you say as you look down at your hands.
"Well I don't know about you," she says with a brief pause, "but I kind of have a little crush on you. And I don't know what it means or what I want but I do know that you are an amazing girl and I would hate to take advantage of you if you don't feel the same way."
"Well, I definitely have feelings for you too," you say as you blush, "I think I am just a little confused." Emily pulls the car into her driveway, puts it in a park, and turns her body to where she is facing you.
"How about this? We don't solidify anything yet. We can take things slow and feel each other out," you and Emily both hear the double meaning of her words and descend into a fit of laughs, "Not like that," she says as she catches her breath, "you know what I meant."
"Yeah, I know. And I like that idea. Now, what movie did you pick out for us to watch?"
One movie turned into two, and then three, and before you knew it you had drifted off halfway into the third movie. You woke up groggily and realized that you had your head resting on Emily's shoulder. You move to grab your phone and wake her up in the process. She stretches and looks over at you.
"Damn, we must have dozed off," she says as she wipes the sleep out of her eyes. "What time is it?" You turn your phone on to see that it reads 11:24 at night. You hold your phone up so that Emily can see it.
"I didn't realize how late it was," you say, "Tara said she could pick me up but not after 10." You start to worry because you know your dad would be asleep by now and waking them him up to come get you, would get you into trouble.
"I could take you," Emily says and you look over at her.
"I would hate to ask you to do that and then have to drive all the way back here," you say.
"Well, my mom isn't going to be home tonight, you could always stay here if you wanted," Emily says with a shrug and a hopeful look in her eyes.
"I wouldn't want to impose," you say with a shake of your head.
"You're not I promise," she reaches over and grabs your hand, "you could borrow some of my clothes, and then we could ride to school together in the morning," you look at her and give her a small smile.
"Thank you," you say and the two of you move to get off of the couch.
"Most of my friends stay in my room," she says as the two of you walk down the hallway, "but if you would feel more comfortable you could sleep in the guest room"
"I don't think that sleeping in the same bed counts as taking it slow," you say with a small laugh.
"Yeah probably not," she says laughing too, "but I would feel more comfortable the closer you are to me," she says in a more serious tone.
"Ok, if you insist."
That night you fell asleep in Emily's king-size bed. You started on opposite sides of the bed but gradually the two of you moved closer and by the time you woke up, you were snuggled up to Emily and her arm was around your waist holding you close. You went to school that day thinking about how that night was the best that you had slept in a long time.
