A deep scowl was set upon my lips as I frowned at the girl who sat before me. Angie, her name was Angie, short for Angelina. She was beautiful even when she was covered in filth and dressed in threadbare clothes, but now that she was bathed and wearing simple dark jeans and a blue long-sleeved shirt she looked flawless. I could not help the jealousy that was burning deep inside me due to Jericho's eyes and attention being drawn to her.

I may be ignorant to present day matters and customs, yet I know how to tell when a man fancies a woman. Jericho was attracted to this girl, that was a fact. Even a blind woman could tell he fancied Angie. His eyes had barely left her's for more than a second. Jealousy was a horrible thing.

"How long?" The words flew from my lips before I could comprehend what I was saying.
"Excuse me?" Angie asked politely from her seat at the table.
"You say you were held prisoner, for how long?" Jericho's head was clearly so far up this girl's rear already, someone had to make a few things clearer. He had said he would make sure her story was legit, yet so far he has just been listening to her sad story. It sounded legit, yet I found no comfort in her story telling. I could not make myself calm or assured since this girl has been here.

"Since I was a little girl. Uralius took me when I was really young, I don't even remember my parents. I believe he killed them when he took me so I doubt I will ever find out who they were." She hung her head low in sorrow and I felt a tinge of something clutch my heart.

"You are not a Fullblood, are you?" The words just tumbled from my mouth and Jericho shot me a look that silently said mind your manners. Everyone in the room was thinking it though, I wasn't the only one that smelled the bitter scent of human coursing through her veins. I was just the only one with enough sand to say it and not worry what Jericho would say or do.

"I didn't know my parents, but I think that is kind of obvious," she didn't sound offended so that was a good thing.
"Yet, you somehow killed two of your guards, ran through miles of Uralius's territory, and escaped?" I challenged. Even some of our strongest pack members would find it challenging to escape Uralius's catacomb-like prison and kill two of his prison guards who were known to be some of the biggest men you would ever come across. Jericho could do it, but I highly doubted this fair skinned and gently raised looking girl could escape Uralius's strong hold. Something wasn't adding up with her story. Call me critical and jealous, but I haven't felt at ease since she's been here.

"It's amazing what people can do when faced with life or death." Angie simply stated but I caught the hidden bite woven into her innocent words. Kitty has claws.  "I needed to get out and I did. I was far luckier than most," she added.

"Indeed you are, " Charlie piped in from his seat at the table,"no known survivors have ever escaped Uralius nor have any lived to tell their tale." Ugh, even Charlie is bewitched by the girl's looks.

"You were very brave and strong for doing what you did," Jericho's masculine voice finally spoke.
"I-I just couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't handle the pain anymore. He can still hurt me though, he's going to come for me and when he does he will kill me and you as well for helping me." She rushed the last part with fear in her voice. Her green eyes were wide from fright and glistened with un-shed tears.

"I will not let him harm you ever again, you are safe here, Angie. We will protect you and I will never let him harm you again. He will have to kill me first before he hurts you again." Jericho's words made me stab my fork into my steak causing juices to rise from its medium-rare flesh. I looked around to see if anyone noticed that my emotions were getting the better of me and I saw Tzipora raise one of her perfect brows in my direction. She had seen my reaction and mouthed 'Are you alright'; instead of replying I took a swig of my champagne.
