“What?” I looked up uncertainly, catching my Pop’s eyes. Everyone was watching me, a few secret smiles here and there.
“What did it say?” Mum asked.
I glanced across at her, taking in her smirk with confused eyes. “Turn around.”
“So? Why don’t you?”
“I -” I began, before cutting myself off and turning my head around to look behind me.
Nothing was there, only the corridor leading to the dining room.
“I don’t get it, what’s going on?”
“How about I explain?” A familiar voice suggested from my left.
I jerked back around, a choked sob escaping my lips as I caught sight of the man sitting beside me. I clamped a hand over my mouth, more tears beginning to fall down my cheeks.
“Merry Christmas,” Christian smiled, tears in his own eyes, before leaning forward to hold my head between his hands. “I love you.”
