Hello everyone! I want to thank everyone who stuck with this story and left beautiful comments for me to enjoy. I loved writing this book, and I fell in love with the characters too as they developed without me asking them to and told the story that I needed them to tell. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!
A few notes about this story:
1. Lily started out as something of a self-insert with slightly better listening skills than me and the thought process that I wish I had. Eventually, however, she morphed into her own character entirely. I enjoyed watching her journey through the book.
2. Odyssey, if you didn't already guess, has severe ADHD and minor bipolar depression. Lily helps her a lot with her bipolar disorder, but her ADHD is deeply rooted and has a lot to do with her home life. She does start to get better control over her thoughts, but the notebook is still very important for her to keep her head straight.
3. I had no intentions of ending the story with Odyssey's dad until very late in the writing process. It ended up just... making sense, though. I always knew that I would need to address his issues at some point, but he became the neat little bow tying everything together, in a weird way. Hopefully it worked.
4. I don't know if anyone's interested, and I'll probably be doing some art soon, but this is New York so most of the named characters have different ethnic backgrounds. Lily is mostly Irish, Odyssey's family has some Pacific Islander heritage, Olivia (the girl that was on her phone and almost walked out into traffic, if you remember) is African-American, Jackson is Caucasian but I never really decided where from other than the U.S., and Asti is Indian (country). Karen... idk. Mostly English, I guess.
5. It took me, like, almost two and a half years to write this little thing. Lol.Alright! So the last thing I want to do is ask a series of questions to find out what you guys liked and didn't like about the book and what you think could be done to improve it. Here we go:
1. What did you think of the characters? Did they make sense in their own rights? Did any of them seem to have an inconsistent development that drew you out of the story and made you wonder what that was all about? Did they seem realistic? Any character that you wish you could have seen more of?
2. Were there any weird continuity errors, e.g., the passage of time was confusing, the characters did things that were contradictory to things they did earlier?
3. Did anything seem contrived or random in a way that it didn't fit in with anything else? Any storylines or character quirks that you would have liked to see more/less of?
4. Did Jack's development in the epilogue make sense? Was it too abrupt? Too random? Possibly just right? Any suggestions on how his development might be improved?
5. Did you pick up on anything stylistically interesting or unique? Anything that stood out to you as significant? Anything that seemed like it should be significant, but then wasn't?
6. Anything that didn't seem believable? Anything that seemed illogical in context?
7. Any story threads that randomly seemed to disappear? Story threads that seemed to be drawn out too much? Any aspects of the story that you were never really sure about, e.g. whether or not Lily and Odyssey really do go to the same school?
8. The way you saw it, what was the message of this story? Did it seem clearly conveyed? Any ways that you think the message could be improved upon/made more clear?
9. Were you able to connect with any of the characters in a significant way? Were you given enough time/information to get to know them?
10. Overall, what did you think of the story?
And that is all. To anyone who has stuck with this story for the whole time, I would really appreciate your feedback on these and anything else you might have noticed. I'll be combing back through for typos and loose threads, and I can already think of a couple of things that may have been inconsistent and in need of more development, but let me know what y'all thought!
Once again, thank you SO MUCH for being here with me throughout this journey. It's been great, and I hope that I can make similar progress on some of my other works (especially S740 and Break of Dawn). Have a lovely evening, and happy reading as the Wattpad admins love to say!
