Chapter 1
I walk into the cafeteria, with my usual salad and water in my hands. I make my way over to my table where all my friends were. I sit next to one of my close friends, Olivia. "Guess who!" someone says as they put their hands over my eyes. I didn't need to see who it was to know it was the love of my life, Ethan. We had always been just friends but I always dreamed of the one day we would be more than friends. "Hey Ethan." he quickly removed his hands and sat in between me and Olivia. "I really need to talk to you." he said as he took my hand. This movement sent sparks quickly moving through out my whole body. He pulls me out of my seat and takes me the empty corner of the cafeteria. "I don't know how to say this so, I'm just going to say it. I think I might be falling in love with you." It was all happening so fast I didnt know what to say. He knew I was in a loss of words. Before I knew it he leaned in, sending his lips crashing into mine. It took me a second before I knew what was happening. I was kissing Ethan! Well I hadn't actually kissed him back yet. Without thinking I kissed him back. Deepening the kiss dramatically.
"Madeline! Stop kissing the back of my seat!" Kyle said as he shook me from her daydream. "I bet you were thinking about Ethan. Weren't you?" he said in a teasing voice. He had always known I had a huge crush on him every since the first day he came to our high school. "I was defiantly not thinking about him!" I felt the redness slowly creep up on her face. "You two need to stop your fighting, because we are here." our father said as he stepped out of the car. It is pretty difficult for him to raise two kids on his own after their mother dying five years ago. He never liked seeing his children fight. He tried as hard as he could to keep everybody in line. Me and Kyle did not fight to often and when we did we forgave each other within five minutes. We were pretty close, but when he graduated I did not see him very often. He was always hanging out with is friends or his 'girlfriend', which he had a different one every week. You could call him a player.
The wind rustled the nearby trees sending leaves flying everywhere. We helped our dad bring the luggage into our new home. The house was a little bigger, but a whole lot older than our old house in California. Who knew Maine was so cold! I sure as hell didn't.
I couldn't help but thing about how I left all my friends and not to mention the boy I loved. Why did my dad have to get a stupid new job here in Maine? Apparently it was an opportunity of a life time that he could not pass by. It might be great for him but I am going to be starting my senior year if high school in a new school. I'm just going to be the 'new girl'.
Yes I was attractive and popular at my other school but this is not California. The people probably aren't the same and I know the weather sure isn't the same as it is back home.
"Dad can I go shopping after I unpack?"
"Ok. But you have to pick up dinner."
"Deal!" Yes I can get some new clothes for school. Which starts in one week. It's crazy! I'm getting a little nervous but I'm sure ill do fine.
Unpacking didn't take to long because I sold a lot of my old clothes before we left so I could buy some new clothes. I grabbed the car keys and headed out the front door but was striped by my bothers voice.
"Be careful Maddy. You don't know this town yet so just drive safe an don't get lost. Call me or Dad if you do." I liked it when my brother wasn't picking on me.
"I don't want you dead because then I would have no one to pick one. " There. Now he's himself.
Trying to find a mall was so hard. I though they didn't have one. But there wasn't any stores so there had to be one somewhere. I finally found one after driving a half hour. Grasping my purse and locking the car I headed for the the entrance. The first store I saw was Forever 21 so I went in there first. I got a couple cute tops and some denim shorts. Next I went to Converse and got some black ones. I was getting quite hungry after all this shopping so I stopped at hot dog on a stick.
"I'll have a lemonade and a corn dog please." I said confidently not even looking up. I was trying to get my wallet out. When I looked up I saw a sweet looking girl about my age.
"That will be $5.67." I gave her the money and she gave me my food. After eating I decided it is getting late and I should probably get dinner and head home. I stopped at Golden China and drove home.
I didn't eat because I was still full from the food I had earlier. I went straight for my room. I took out my contacts and put on my glasses. Then I slipped into some pajama shorts and a baggy t-shirt. The last step of my night routine was to wash my face and brush my teeth. I had just boughten some new face was that was suppose to be really good for your skin. After that I went to my bed and crawled in the warm sheets.
