"I knew we'd get to see one!" She cheered quietly, careful not to scare away the frog.
Katya smiled fondly at the little girl, finding it cute how excited she got over a frog.
"Worth the wait, huh?"

"Absolutely."

After another couple minutes of staring at the frog, Katya thought it was time for her to go back. She didn't trust Trixie's parents at all, so leaving Trixie alone with them for such a long time made Katya nervous.
She said her goodbyes to Lia, letting the little girl hug her before making her way back.

"Why aren't you inside the room?" Katya asked Brad, who was leaning against the door to Trixie's room.
"Waiting for you actually." He smirked.
"Well here I am, now move aside so I can go in please." Katya demanded.
"Ah, now that's exactly why i'm here. I'm afraid I can't let you do that." He said, his smirk growing impossibly wider.
"And why the fuck not?" Katya raised a brow. She was a very patient person but everyone has a limit, and Brad was really pushing his luck.
"Well you see, Trixie is awake-" He started, only to have Katya gasp and attempt to push him out of the way. However, he was strong. Stronger than Katya would like to admit. He didn't budge.
"Впусти меня, мудак!" Katya spat as she tried to push him aside, desperate to finally see Trixie awake.
"Let me finish you crazy Russian bitch!" He yelled, making Katya groan in frustration and step back, signalling for him to talk.
"Trixie has amnesia. She doesn't remember anything about her life besides her own name and there's nothing you can do about it. I'm here to tell you to never contact her again. Patty, Trixie's mom, missed that stupid daughter of hers so much and it was getting annoying. This is the perfect opportunity for her to get her daughter back and I won't let no dyke ruin it. So you have one of two options; You go inside and humiliate yourself telling Trixie that you're her girlfriend while her parents deny it, knowing that if you do, I promise to make her life so bad she'd wish to have died in that accident.
Or, you could turn away and never contact Trixie again. No harm done, Trixie won't even know you ever exited. Take your pick." Brad said. He smiled triumphantly as he saw the Russian tremble.

~On the other side of the door - flashback to when Trixie woke up~

Everything was blurry as the bright light from the fluorescent lamps met Trixie's eyes. She groaned, slowly regaining consciousness of the world around her. She blinked away the spots in her vision, sitting up on her bed.
She was in a hospital room, that much she could tell.
But how did she get there?
"Beatrice? Oh sweetie you're awake!" She was attacked by a hug. The voice of a woman.
She pulled back and took a look at her surroundings.
On one side of the room there was a bunch of gifts. On the other there were two middle aged people.
"Um... who are you? Is my name Beatrice?" She asked, looking genuinely confused.
The two people exchanged a look that Trixie couldn't read.
"Honey, we're your parents. Your name is Beatrice Mattel and you live with us in Milwaukee. Brad, go get the doctor please." Trixie's mum said, holding her hand tightly.
Trixie nodded, not seeing a reason why she shouldn't trust the woman who says she's her mother.
"Why am I in the hospital?" She questioned.
"You got into a car accident while driving home from a concert." Patty half lied, coming up with an excuse as to why she was hospitalized in Boston instead of Milwaukee.
Trixie seemed satisfied by her answer.
She was about to ask another question when the doctor came in.

"Good afternoon miss Mattel, how're you feeling?" The doctor asked as he entered the room.
"Physically I feel fine, I guess." Trixie said. She was surprised to see that her 'dad' hadn't come back after calling the doctor. Maybe he went to the bathroom?
"And emotionally?" The doctor continued.
"Well, also fine. But I can't seem to remember anything from before I woke up." Trixie explained, hoping that the doctor would understand her frustration.
The doctor gave her a knowing look.
"Amnesia is pretty common amongst car accident survivors like you. Don't worry, people usually regain their memories eventually. Sometimes it takes days and sometimes it takes years. I'm sure your family and friends will do their best to support and help you remember." The doctor said.
"When will she be able to leave the hospital?" Trixie's mum piped up.
"Well i'll have to run a few tests first, but if the results are good then she'll be out of here within a few hours." The doctor smiled kindly at the two women.
Patty let out a breath of... relief? It was as if she was scared to stay longer. Trixie thought it was odd but didn't question it. After all there could be a thousand reasons why her mum would want to get out of the hospital as soon as possible.
After that, the doctor left the room to go over the necessary files and prepare the tests.

Trixie could've sworn that in the silence that followed, she heard muffled screaming from outside the room.

~

Katya's eyes welled up with tears. The choice was obvious but it was more painful than anything she could've imagined. Giving up the only woman she'd ever loved? Knowing she's unknowingly and unwillingly leaving a happy life to go back with those horrible people? Katya's heart ached at the thought. She never thought she'd have to give Trixie up. If only she'd stayed inside the damn room.
Katya didn't care for herself. She wanted what's best for Trixie and she knew for a fact that staying with them would never fulfil her. Trixie had so much to offer to the world, being a small town girl for the rest of her life was like trapping a lion in a cage barely big enough for it to fit in.
Trixie could never be happy with that. She deserved so much more.

However, it would happen either way. No matter what Katya chose, Trixie would end up with them because Brad was right. Without any memories, there's no way Trixie would trust Katya's word over her parent's.

The least she could do was make sure Brad didn't make her life any more miserable.

"Swear to me you won't hurt her." Katya choked out.

"Whatever." He shrugged.

That was it for Katya. The nerve of this man way beyond anything she's had to deal with. Even while living on the streets, Katya had never been so utterly repelled by a person.

Katya grabbed Brad by the collar of his shirt, slamming him against the wall. Any fear of his intimidating size long forgotten. After all, she had nothing to lose, and when a person who has nothing to lose is mad at you; run.

"Now listen here you disgusting pig, i'm gonna make this clear enough for your teeny tiny caveman brain to understand. You're gonna swear to me, on your life, that if I go you won't ever hurt Trixie in any way and you're gonna stay true to your word. Trust me, you do not wanna find out what's gonna happen if you don't so if you value your life even a little bit, I suggest you do it." Katya hissed.

Brad gulped. No one's ever had the guts to talk back to him. Now there he was, pinned against a hospital wall by a slim Russian girl who somehow made him wet his pants.

"I- I swear on my life!" He blurted out, scared of what Katya might do.
Katya searched his eyes for any sign of lies. Once she was satisfied she let go of him.
Brad of course ran inside as soon as she let go. Typical.

Katya gave one last glance at the door to Trixie's room.
Her scowl softened into a frown as she realised she didn't even get to say goodbye.

If only she could look into those beautiful honey brown eyes again.

"Goodbye for now, Trixie. I know in my heart that we'll meet again someday. Until then i'll be waiting, so please remember me. Я тебя люблю навсегда, моя принцесса." She whispered.

AN- Ooooo cliffhanger...... Will Tracy remember?
Also, full disclosure- I have no idea if the stuff I wrote about amnesia is scientifically correct but for the sake of the plot let's assume that it is :)
