Flashback- 17 years ago

Grace just put a record on the record player and let it play as she rang the bell to come to breakfast. All of the Umbrella Academy children walk down the stairs to the to table and stand at their regular seats. On side stood Luther, Diego, Lorna and Five. On the other stood Allison, Klaus, and Ben while Vanya stood at the end. Reginald or Mr. Hargreeves walks to the table and pulls out his chair at the end next to Luther and Allison.

Once he pulls out his chair he says. "Sit."

All of the kids nod as they do what their told and sit down.

They start to eat their food and do their normal habits. Diego started to use one of the knifes to carve into the chair. Lorna looked over and noticed, so she lightly took it out of his hands with her magnetokinesis and put her hand under his instead. Lorna just smiles as she continues to eat her food. Diego looks down and slightly blushes.

Lorna just continued to eat, but was stopped when she heard a knife hit the table.

Everyone's heads goes up and look at Five as Reginald asks. "Number Five?"

Five answers. "I have a question."

Reginald just says. "Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. No talking during meal times. You are interrupting Herr Carlson."

Five pushes his food away and says. "I want to time travel."

Reginald declines his request. "No."

Five argues back. "But I'm ready. I've been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said."

He gets out of his chair and spatial jumps or teleports next to Reginald. "See?"

Reginald just looks down at his food. "A spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn."

Five admits. "Well, I don't get it."

Reginald says. "Hence the reason you're not ready."

Five looks over Lorna with a determined look and she just shakes her head as she mouths. "Five no."

He turns back to Reginald and says. "I'm not afraid."

Reginald continues to eat his breakfast as he says. "Fear isn't the issue. The effect it might have on your body, even your mind, are far too unpredictable. Now, I forbid you to talk about this anymore."

It become silent as Reginald goes back to eating. Five gets angry and starts to walk away causing Reginald to call out to him. "Number Five! You haven't been excused! Get back here!"

Lorna calls out to him. "Five! Five come back!"

She goes to chase after him but was stop by Reginald. "Do not follow him Number 8. He will learn the consequences of his actions. Now sit back down and finish your breakfast."

Lorna wants to go look for Five, but didn't want to risk upsetting Reginald. So, she sat back down and looked down at her plate.

Everyone just continued eating their breakfast, but Lorna couldn't. She couldn't eat with the thought that Five was out there alone.

It was currently the next morning and everyone in the academy continued on with their lives.
