Chapter Two

Ethan's Pov

"Hey", I tell Benny.

"Have you seen Maddy?" He asks me.

"Man, when are you gonna give it up", I shake my head.

"When she gets married", Benny says seriously.

"It definitely won't be to you".

"I can try", Benny says.

He's hopeless.

"Hey boys".

I jump from surprise and Benny actually yelps.

I spin around and see Maddy behind me, grinning.

She walks in between us with her bag on one shoulder. "So I snooped around last Sunday night, and it turns out your babysitter is not hot", she tells me as she tugs her beanie on.

"Huh?" I ask her confused.

"That was for Benny's benefit", she slightly explains.

"After school I'm going to the store if you guys wanna come", she says.

"I'm in", Benny says immediately.

"Great! You can help me dye my hair", Maddy laughs.

"Yep, that's me", Benny agrees. He shoots me a triumphant smile.

"That's doesn't mean she likes you", I mumble to him.

"I'll take what I can get", he mouths over her head.

Benny's Pov

"Hey Rory", Maddy tells him as he slides his tray close to hers.

"Whats up Rory".

"Hey Maddy. Benny, guess what?" Rory says excitedly.

"What?" I say patiently. "I got these cool night goggles!" He tells me and oh god.....actually pulls them on in front of everyone in the cafeteria.

I stare at him, speechless.

Someone gasps from my left side, and I snap my head in that direction.

"I'm so sorry", Ethan apologies to this girl.

I spin around and face Maddy, trying not to laugh.

"Don't you dare this time", she warns.

"But Ethan just- his food got- that girl-" I wheeze.

I wait a minute before turning back around, the girl long gone.

"Huh. That girl is your babysitters best friend", Maddy chuckles.

"How do you know?" I ask her.

"She's.......sitting next to the babysitter..." Maddy points out.

"Oh. Yeah", I say lamely.

Maddy just shakes her head and sits next to me.

"Hey Maddy look", I smirk. "One, two, three, four", I tell her and rest my arm around her shoulders.

"Awwww, Benny can count past three guys", she laughs.

Butttttt she doesn't move my arm.

Maddys Pov

At this point, im just letting him do what he wants.

"So, Rory, what've you been up to?" I ask.

"You know, going ghost hunting, all the stuff like that".

The three of us go silent and share looks with each other while Rory eats.

What do I say? I mouth to Ethan.

I don't know. Cool?

I turn to Benny. "Cool Rory", he fake smiles.

"Benny".

"Hmm?" He says quickly.

"Uh, we have math next. Together", I remind him.

"And I have English with Rory", Ethan says.

"Let's go", Benny says while grabbing my bag. I grab my tray and dump it before reaching for my bag. "I'll carry it", Benny waves my hand away.

"Benny", I say while shaking my head. He won't give it up. I cave with a sigh.

"So Ethan has some weird crush on the uh, girl he dumped his food on earlier. Sarah, I think her name is", Benny informs me after school.

"Of course he does", I roll my eyes.

"What color are you doing?" Benny says while throwing a bottle of dye at me. Red.

"I can't pick between red or purple", I tell him.

"Red. It'll look nice on you", he tells me before blushing.

"You've fallen hard for me Benny boy, haven't you?" I ask semi-seriously.

"Why don't you find out?" He says bravely. Benny steps closer to me, gently pushing me against the shelf.

"You're telling me....you have no feelings for me?....at all?" He asks. His hand moves closer and I look right into his green eyes.

"How about....no", I tell him.

"Your hand says differently", he says without moving or looking down.

I look down and realize my hand slightly reached for his.

I quickly move my hand.

"Guess i was wrong", he grins as he backs up.

"Looks like I'll do the uh, red", I tell him as I clear my throat.
