Chapter Four

Bennys Pov

"Jane, my grandmas gonna watch you. We gotta go.....somewhere", I tell her.

"You have to go to a party because some psychopath almost killed us", she corrects.

"Don't tell your parents", I say as I give her $20.

"Already forgotten", She says.

"I'm driving", Sarah clarifies. She snatched the keys out of my hand. Ethan sat in the front with her, making Maddy having to basically sit on my lap with all the stuff that was in the car piled onto the other seat.

"I could get used to this", I smirk while looking up to get her reaction.

"I bet you could", is all she said. I tugged her hair while we drove down the road. "Will I ever be.....a choice?" I ask.

She sighs. "You're my best friend".

"We could be more".

"That could ruin our friendship".

"It could be the best thing we've ever had".

"Or it could change all of us and break all of our hearts", she countered back.

"You won't know unless you try".

"I tried a relationship. You remember how that worked out".

"I wouldn't do that".

Silence.

"Do you think I would do that?" I ask her in disbelief.

More silence. She looks out the window.

I put my hand on her face and force her head to turn towards me. "Do you?" I ask.

She bites her lip gently and shrugs.

"I wouldn't", I tell her.

Maddys Pov

"I'm going by myself", Sarah sighs.

"The hell you are", i scoff.

"You're staying in the car", she glared.

"You're not my babysitter. Try and stop me", I taunt.

"Fine. But you two are staying".

"I'm not staying-" Benny cuts himself off when Sarah shoots him a death stare.

We walk until Sarah pulls me behind a tree.

"Tuck this into your boot", she whispers. She presses a small knife into my hand.

"Are you crazy?" I hiss. She walks away.

I put it in between my sock and combat boot.

"Are you serious?" I ask her.

"Deadly".

"Thought so", I scoff.

"You need to find your little friend and I'll get mine. And then we're getting the hell out of this party".

"What's so bad about this party?" I ask.

"Almost everyone here is a vampire and they plan on turning our friends".

"The hell did you just say?"

"Vampires. Go find your friend", she says while walking along the other side of the pool.

Ethans Pov

"We're going in", Benny says.

"Are you kidding me? I'm dead if she tells my parents".

"You can stay, but I'm not letting Maddy go without me", Benny says before turning towards the walkway.

I groan and catch up with him.

We just see Maddy as she walks into the house. Benny takes off in her direction. "I'll just.....go help look for Rory", I laugh uncomfortably.

Maddys Pov

"Oh my god", i say as Benny grabs my arm.

"Did you really think I'd let you come by yourself?" He scoffs.

I grab his hand and yank him into the bathroom, checking the lock.

I put my foot on the counter and yank up the leg of my pants. "Sarah gave me this just in case", I hiss.

"Why do you need a freaking knife?!" He whispers loudly.

"Apparently the place is swarming with vampires".

"Do you believe her?" He asks me carefully.

"Well it would certainly explain a lot about the drama club", she tells me.

"Okay. Assuming she's telling the truth, we need to find Rory and get out of here".

"Nice thinking, Sherlock".

I go out and check the hallways, feeling him right next to me the whole time.

"There's Rory", I tell him as I see Rory sitting on the couch with a whole plate of food.

We weave in between all the other people and grab him arms. "We gotta go", Benny says lowly.

"Hey guys!" Rory says excitedly. "Rory, get up", I tell him.

"But we're at a party! I never get invited".

"Rory we can have our own party but right now we need to go".

Sarah breaks through the crowd. "It's too late. My friend is already turned. We need to go".

"You're not going anywhere", a voice laughs.

"Hey babe", Jessie says. He slings a hand over Sarah's shoulder. "Who's this?" He grins.

"The kid im babysitting.....and his friends", Sarah says slowly.

"A high schooler has a babysitter?" He snickers.

"Looks like we don't have to wait til midnight. Our meals are here", Jessie calls out to the crowd. Everyone circles around us. Someone starts to come towards me.

I take a step back and Benny yanks me onto the other side of him so I'm in between him and Ethan.

"Think youre a tough guy huh?" The guy taunts.

"No", Benny tells him.

"Isn't she a pretty little thing. Imagine my mouth around her neck, sucking her dry", he drawls to us.

"You're not gonna touch whats mine", Benny tells him. He laces his hand into mine and squeezes it.

"Oh, you two are a thing?" He scoffs. "Not for long", he grins.

Someone smashes a vase over his head.

"Rory?" I say. The crowd opens, making Benny sprint towards the door while dragging me along. I look back to see Jessie lying on the floor, wheezing. Sarah runs out right after us, Ethan and Rory following suit.

"What'd you do to him?" I ask Sarah as she starts the car.

Rory and Ethan slam the front door and she floors it.

"I drop kicked my boyfriend".
