"Change your mind?" I ask when he stops, looking like he's going to back out.
"Nah..." The second he said that, he almost slipped. He quickly grabs onto the wall. This makes me laugh.
"Oh, do you think that's funny?" He says sarcastically.
"It is." I say.
Once we got a little more used to it, we started being able to skate more freely and went off on our own.
"LOOK OUT!" I hear one of them yell. I turn around quickly, to see Tyler. I move out of the way in enough time before he runs into me.
That was close.
I suddenly feel two hands on my shoulders and then I'm being turned around and pushed into the wall, almost slipping.
"Sorry. I was about to fall." It was Auggie.
"So you try to take me down with you?" I say, a little loud.
"Sorry," he repeats and laughs.
"WOAH!" Skyler yells, now also running into us and all three of us fall onto the ice.
Laughing, Auggie gets up and skates off, nearly slamming into Reece as well. When Skyler finally manages to get up he offers me a hand, pulling me up.
Holding onto my arms he asks, "You alright?"
"Yeah." I laugh. But when I meet his eyes I find it hard to look away again. It's not until I realize he's staring back with a confused look that I quickly turn my eyes away.
-
We get back to the house around 7PM. They clean out the spare bedroom for me to sleep in and after I've showered and gotten dressed I look at myself in the mirror as I brush my long brown hair. I'm wearing a pair of Reece's sweatpants and one of his shirts, which is a bit big on me, but he's the smallest out of the group of them and I wasn't able to fit in any of the others' clothes.
Landon, Auggie and Reece have work tomorrow, so Skyler and Tyler said they'll go to the mall with me so I can get some clothes and things I need.
I still don't understand how I got so lucky for them to find me and not some creeps. I have somewhere I feel welcome now, although I do miss Layla a lot.
"Amberlyn?" A voice comes from the other side of the shut door of my new bedroom. I walk to the door and open it to see Auggie.
"You ready?" He asks.
They had all decided to watch a movie and were waiting for me to come downstairs.
"Yep." I sit on the right end of the couch, Skyler flops onto the spot next to me followed by Reece and Landon on the left side. Auggie and Tyler sit on the other couch. They've made up a couple large bowls of popcorn for us all to share.
"What movie did you choose?" I ask, scooping a handfull of popcorn out of one of the bowls.
"A scary one." Tyler is the first to answer, smirking.
"Oh..." I reply. I'm not a big fan of horror movies.
Before the movie was over I had left the room, unable to finish it, hoping I don't have nightmares. I'm laying down in my bedroom, typing away on my phone, texting my best friend, Piper. Suddenly there's a knock on the bedroom door.
"Come in." I say. Skyler walks in slowly, looking unsure if I wanted to keep the door shut.
"Just leave it cracked." I tell him. He walks over and sits on the the edge of the bed next to me. I sit up switching to a criss-crossed position and turn facing him.
"What's up?" I ask.
"Well you left at the best part of the movie," He began, jokingly. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just not really into scary movies. Maybe we can all watch a comedy or something instead next time?" I say.
"Yeah, sure." He laughs.
Not knowing what else to talk about, I looked to my phone, seeing a new text message from Piper and typing back to her. She was the only one who knew where I was. The only one who I could trust not to tell anyone.
"Hey, you want me to put our numbers in your phone?" He asks. This was unexpected.
"Um, yeah sure." I say, bringing up the page to type in a new contact, I give him my phone so he can type in the numbers.
"There." He says, handing it back to me.
"Thanks." I checked through them, stopping at Skyler's name as I notice he has put a smiley face with his name.
"What's this for?" I ask, pointing to it.
He shrugs his shoulders, "'Cause I'm the coolest, so I get a smily face." He jokes.
"Oh, you are funny." I say with sarcasm. He smiles, running a hand through his pitch-black hair.
"Well, I'm tired. I'm gonna go to bed. What time are you, Tyler and I going to the mall tomorrow?" I ask, yawning.
"We'll probably just go whenever we're up and ready." He says.
I nod, hoping they'd be awake by atleast 11am.
"Okay, well, 'night Amb." He said, as he gets up and leaves the room, shutting the door behind him.
-
"Tyler, get off!" Skyler yelled. We were at the mall and Tyler was being extremely hyper and had just run and jumped onto Skyler's back.
When he's able to throw Tyler off of him, he runs ahead as he spots the "Sweet Stop." As if he needs more sugar.
"Does that mean I can't have a piggy-back-ride either?" I ask Skyler, being sarcastic. He gives me a look in which I find suspicious, but before I can react he picks me up, throwing me onto his back and runs down the isle, leaving my squeal to fade out behind us. Turning into the candy-filled store we spot Tyler standing in line with a bag full of half the store already. Laughing, I climb down from Skyler's back letting my feet land flat on the floor. It's only for a moment but as I turn, our fingers slightly touch sending a hot chill down my hand and up to my face. I tell myself it's my imagination, but Skyler glances toward me, too, and I find my brain wondering if he felt it too or if it was only the touch that startled him.
"Look what I found! You can never find these anymore!" Tyler says, when he finds us, holding up some sort of candy I've never had. I giggle at how full of energy he seems to constantly be, dropping my thoughts for now.
