Today is Izuku's fifth birthday, the day his quirk manifests. As he and his mom made their way to the quirk doctor he started getting nervous. Questions began to swirl in his mind.

He didn't notice we were here until my mom announced it. Afterward, Izuku jumped out of the car, carefully landing on his feet. Inko noticed must've how nervous Izuku was because she gave him a quick peck on the forehead.

"Izuku it's going to be fine don't sweat it"

Hearing her words made me feel better. Once we arrived at the doctor's office he ran a few tests on me so he could gather some sort of information. The doctor came back and what he said made my heart drop.

"I'm sorry young man, but you appear to be without a quirk." My heart dropped after hearing those words. I tried holding back tears, but my eyes started burning and began to blur.

The Doctor began to laugh. Inko wanted to slap the man who was currently humiliating her so. She opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted

"I am deeply sorry but I lied, the truth is Mr. Midoriya here has a very powerful quirk. He is to never use it until he gets older, understand? I may not be able to tell you what it is now, but when he gets older I'll explain everything."

Izuku nodded, wiping the tears off my face with a smile. He hadn't even noticed they had fallen. My mom pulled me into a strong hug, cutting off my air circulation. Izuku didn't really feel happy. Even if he has a powerful quirk what good would of do if it won't manifest until who knows how long.

"Kacchan. Kacchan"

Katsuki looked over to see Izuku running towards him. He had a huge smile on his face, not that it ever left. In a hurry, Katsuki ran to him and they joined together in a hug. Katsuki didn't even care that he left those dumb extras behind, they were annoying anyways. People who do nothing but praise him can fuck off.

"I've got something to tell you," Izuku mumbled, he sounded sad. We pulled apart and Katsuki saw that Izuku had a huge frown on his face.

"What's wrong?"

"I'm quirkless"

Izuku was of course lying. He knew it was wrong but he had no choice, nobody would believe him if he told the truth. That a boy can't use his quirk until he gets older because of powerful it is. Everyone would call him a liar.

"What?" Katsuki refused to believe what he was hearing. There was no way his best friend was quirkless.

He felt hurt and betrayed. Izuku made a promise to him that they would become heroes together, and they can't do that if he's quirkless. He might get hurt, even worse killed. The thought of Izuku dying made Katsuki want to cry. At the same time, Katsuki was angry,  how dare Izuku break that promise.

"Kacchan I'm-"

"Just shut up. I hate you, Izuku."

With that Katsuki ran off leaving Izuku behind. Izuku didn't expect Katsuki to act like that. He predicted that he might've been surprised, but this hurt Izuku in more ways than one. Katsuki hated him now? Maybe he should've just come to him with the truth, he's sure Katsuki would've understood. Izuku began to cry at the loss of his best friend. He should've never lied.

Meanwhile, Katsuki had run off deep into the woods somewhere. He too began to sob over what felt like the loss of his better half. Maybe he overreacted,  but still. How could Izuku do this to him? They dreamt of becoming heroes since they could dream of anything. They wanted to become the beat hero duo in history. But now that dream was ruined. Now, he has to do everything in his power to make sure Izuku doesn't do anything dangerous, especially hero work. He has to protect him, even if that means losing their friendship.
