Mr. Lee : are you always this wreck or it's my presence that's making you this anixious?
He says observingly when Jungkook stops midway of his rambling about his bio data. It takes two seconds for him to register the remark before he answered with an awkward laugh.
Jungkook : n-no, sir. Why would you think like that?
Mr. Lee : your gestures are frantic and you're rambling.
Mr. Lee pointed out the continual hand trembles and slip tongues Jungkook did for the past hour being.
Jungkook : oh-uh...umm..actually, I've never been a situation like this so..I'm a little bit nervous.
Mr. Lee : ah, I see. But I expected you to be confident in impressing people,
considering your reputation.
Jungkook lowers his head in slight dissapointment since he was trying too hard to not mess up this only chance that he had.
He closed his eyes for a slight second before he lifted it and decided to just stop the try thing and be what he was, say what was he sincerely felt.
Jungkook : sir, I don't intend to offend you but I didn't came here to impress you. Because the reputation you're referring is based on my professional life where people want to do business with me or my company and they expect me to be an exception so I have to take fancy steps to impress them which is nothing I have come here today for.
He took the look on the fathers face which was hard to read since it was impassive. And decided to just put everything the way it came.
Jungkook : to be frank, yes, like any other person, I wanted and even still want to prove you that I'm the best for your daughter. But then again, I'm well aware of that I'm not. Rather a very spoiled brat with money and famed background who has left a negative impression to you in the past.
Jungkook : you might think that I'm bragging or even trying to put the guilty innocence to get your sympathy. But trust me, I'm not. Because as far as I've heard and known your persona, I know that you aren't someone to sympathize people. And to add to that, my past deeds wouldn't really give anyone a reason to do it so expecting to you is very far. And today even if I apologize for a thousands times, it wouldn't be enough regarding the amount of loss you had because of me.
He paused a second and then continued as a glint of pride flickers in his eyes.
Jungkook : but you know, even after all this shame and negative thoughts, I had this courage of sitting here in front of you with a strong point that I can claim to be my strength and only yet biggest advantage.
The old man listened intently as Jungkook proudly met his eyes and says with confidence.
Jungkook : My selfishness.
They kept the gaze at the same level as he continued.
Jungkook : Like any other typical person, I am selfish. But I'm not afraid to admit it because I am selfish for Y/n. If I can be selfish enough to hurt her by letting her go when I wasn't worthy of her; knowing well enough that I'll feel equally pain as her.....then I definitely can wait till I become one. Doesn't matter if this takes just few years or a eternity.
Silence fell over the two grown man as if they were on a boat of one death, one life and debated who would be making the first attempt of breaking the other in order to save himself.
