Ever since her district- her country had turned on her, Alma Coin had been anxiously waiting for the time she could get her revenge. For Coin, this meant slaughtering the biggest betrayer of them all: Katniss Everdeen. If she was lucky, she'd get her hands on Peeta as well. Before she could put her plan into motion, she needed to survive the bloodbath, find her ally: Plutarch Heavensbee, and locate her targets. "10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, Let the games begin!" Roared a foreign voice. Alma had no idea where her destination would be, besides getting to Plurarch, who was commanded to retrieve her a weapon. She was too elderly to outrun all of the other tributes, let alone get herself a weapon. A wave of sudden relief flooded over her. Plutarch was alive, and he was equipped with a dozen knives, a rope, and a backpack.
"Oh my goodness, I thought you were dead!" Alma cried.
"We still have a chance. I was a game maker once, you know." Plutarch replied. "I know how this works."
Once they are done with their short greeting, Alma is supplied with half of the knives and the rope.
"Well, do we take them out or do we run?" Asks Coin, hoping to get a chance to take out the traitors from District 12.
"The safer option would be to run, but do what you want," Plutarch states the obvious, but Alma sees it as an opportunity.
"Let's go in. I want to. At least we could contribute to the revenge on the injustices of the Capitol, if not, for Everdeen. And that Mellark-he should go down as well!" Her voice burned with fury. Her hunger for revenge was stronger than her physical abilities.
But perhaps this was her biggest flaw.
Her insatiable thirst for revenge was overpowering her logic, and she acted before she could think of what she was about to do. She took a tight hold on the hilt of one of the large, silver weapons and attacked. She didn't care who she stayed, she just did it to get it over with. A dark haired girl and a boy around the same age as her were the victims of her outburst.
However, her last victim was the cause of her own death. With one last slash of her knife, it's metallic luster tainted with the blood of those she killed, her last victim was the elderly man who allowed her outburst in the first place. She had killed Plutarch, the only one who had ever understood her wrath, and even encouraged it. Brokenhearted, Coin sank to her knees. How could she have let herself do this to the one person that she had been loyal to for years? She had become her own downfall, and she was willing to inflict upon herself the payback for it.
Alma Coin raised her knife one last time, and paused, almost reconsidered her actions and-
A sword came from behind. The sheer force alone would have killed her, but the sharpness of the blade was what had stolen the life from her lungs.
Two cannons signified the deaths of those who tried, but failed, to keep what they held most dear: the other's life.
