I would recommend listening to 'Akatsuki no Requiem' by Linked Horizon on repeat while reading this chapter. For some reason this just kinda fits for me idk why. You don't have to but I just feel like it'll give a better reading experience if you do.

A week later (I have no idea where I am in this timeline lol)

But in this case, woe is Kakashi.

He's been dealing with...things.

    Naruto has been doing nothing but training ever since their introductions. Don't get me wrong, he's always training but Naruto had always taken breaks and socialized with the entire 4 people he knows. Now though, he's practically training 24/7. Only taking breaks to eat and use the bathroom. Sleep? What's that? But recently Kakashi has seen Jiraiya with Naruto most of the time that he's been training. He understands that it's a sensei-student thing but only like 4 times has Kakashi seen Jiraiya without Naruto after meeting team 7. Kakashi decided to confront the old man.

One day later (e)

"Now Naruto I'll be back so just continue training until then."

"Alright, Jiraiya-Sensei"

Then Jiraiya proceeded to jutsu away.

Just before the old man met up with Naruto he received a scroll from Kakashi. He requested to see Jiraiya immediately so he knew it was important.

'Knowing Kakashi it's probably about Naruto.'

Jiraiya met up with the silver-haired Jonin at him and Naruto's house.

"Alright, Kakashi. What's this about?"

"It's about Naruto."

"Of course it is."

"Why is he training so much. He's already plenty strong. Heck, he even has a 6-pack. He's literally a pre-teen. Every time I see his face he looks more exhausted than before! He barely eats and he hasn't slept in about a week! What is it? What is the point of this? He's literally on the verge of collapse! I'd rather have an alive brother, excuse you. So tell me, why? Why are you doing this?"

"Couldn't say."

The older man couldn't respond. For he had his own reasons for keeping this from the jonin. If he found out, he would shut it down completely.

He wasn't stupid.

He knew Naruto was in bad shape but there's nothing he could do. Things were about to get worse for the blonde. He needed to be taught discipline. He needed to be able to adapt to any weather. He needed to be able to stand his ground even if the whole world is against him. He needed a will stronger than his own strength. Everything relied on whether or not Naruto could control the power he was about to receive. Well, receive would be an understatement. This power, this energy, it wasn't simply going to be handed to him. What's about to happen is going to be some of the darkest hours, maybe even days in Naruto's life. If he messes up, Naruto would die. It would also be partly Jiraiya's fault for not training him properly. Compared to what will happen, this training is light work.
