They see a smiling, carefree girl
as happy as can be
believing her life is great
They see a caring girl
helping those in need
"She must be so kind", they believe
They see a girl very unlike her true self
a girl that exists in fantasies
perfect in every senseI see behind that mask
I see a helpless, broken girl
with no one to trust
I see a lonely, depressed girl
who is deeply flawed
and while others see a girl who is perfectly happy, I see those amber eyes give out a cry for help
for those same eyes stare back at me every morning
